ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Bicaronate of Soda Day which is commonly known as baking soda which is used in baking, cooking, deorderizing, cleaning, polishing and countless other applications..
The ancient Egyptians used natural deposits of sodium bicarbonate as a cleaning agent like soap, but it wasn’t until 1791 that French chemist Nicolas Lebanc produced sodium bicarbonate in modern form. In 1846, two New York bakers named John Dwight and Austin Church established the first factory to make baking soda.
Baking soda is a white, odorless, crystalline solid that is completely soluble in water. It is very useful around the home, the kitchen, and for medical purposes. Baking soda can even be used as an antacid to treat indigestion and heartburn. Sodium bicarbonate deserves a whole day of celebration.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I think baking is very rewarding, and if you follow a good recipe, you will get success.

I aways have baking soda on hand here at my house. It’s uses are truly endless. I use it to bake with and to clean with. Using it in water to clean my refrigerator out leaves it spotless and smelling good too. Sprinkling a little on the carpet before vacuuming will make it smell as fresh and clean as new.
I use it in baking cookies and cakes and biscuits too. Plus there is good old fashioned soda bread for St. Patricks Day too. What we do without it?
Today is my day to sit down and make up a shopping list for this week and on the menu for next week is:
Monday - Cabbage Roll Skillet
Wednesday - Slow Cooker Pasta e Fagioli
Friday - The Ultimate Grilled Cheese
Weekend - Baked Chicken Parmesan
Wednesday would normally be my shopping day but this week it will be on Friday because today is my appointment for my monthly hair cut.Don’t want to miss that as it does make me feel good and I need more of that these days. And on Thursday is the funeral for DSIL’s mom. So Friday will have to do it for me.
I’m flexible and can do what needs to be done at the time. Nothing is ever set in stone here.
The pictures today show some of the wonderful appetizers we had at DD’s house on Saturday, I still have some in the fridge here. But what you are seeing are some pictures of DD and family celebrating New Years Eve. I still can not load and new pictures to show you.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

It’s all about a balancing act between time, tmmperature and ingredients. That’s the art of baking.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If baking is any labor at all, it’s a labor of love. A love that gets passed from generation to generation.

Baking soda is a necessity in the pantry.
Your menu sure sounds good. Be safe out there Ma!
Ya, baking soda's always been a staple in our refrigerator door. Imagine my surprise when, last month I went to making nut bread and couldn't find it ANYwhere. Only the next week I discovered it under the bathroom sink. (???) I remember my dad would stir some in a glass of water to alleviate indigestion.
I hope you enjoy your hair cut experience!
The doctors I have worked with here do NOT recommend baking soda as an antacid. I can't remember the reason why anymore. I love cleaning my drains with baking soda and vinegar.
I think we have baking soda in the fridge to keep it fresh smelling :)
