ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Cocoa Day which celebrates the delicious cup of hot Cocoa. Cocoa is made from the dried, fully fermented seeds of the cocoa tree. These seeds are ground to make cocoa powder, which is the main ingredient in the hot cocoa we all know and love. Monkeys were actually the first creatures to discover that the cocoa plant was edible. Over 1500 years ago began to eat the pulp of the plant and spit out the beans. Humans soon caught on, and the rest is history.
Cocoa trees are grown worldwide, but it is thought that the first ones grew in South America. Cocoa is similar to wine, in that its flavor profile differs based on where it is grown. Lucky for us cocoa trees are very plentiful- it takes 300 to 800 cocoa beans to make two pounds of chocolate.
To celebrate today make your favorite type of cocoa to enjoy. For a holiday twist on a traditional cup of cocoa, add a candy cane!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
My favorite thing about the holiday season is the lights. I love walking around with family, friends and a cup peppermint hot chocolate to look at all the beautiful lights and decorations.

We used to go driving in the car to look at Christmas lights and always had some hot cocoa to take along. Its delicious any time but especially in the winter when its cold outside. I love mine with marshmallows in it. Lots and lots of them. I like pouring the hot chocolate over them and watching them melt. It makes the drink creamy and smooth.
We’ve had a couple of 50 degree days here. Friday was sunny but Saturday it rained. Today we’re back in the 30’s. So it’s a good day for some hot cocoa.
I’m staying at home again today and will watch church services on line. It’s almost like being there in person, but not quite. It’s hard to believe its the third Sunday of Advent already. Not long at all until Christmas will be here.
I’ll be lighting the candles on my Advent wreath and praying that next year will be a much happier Christmas for all of us. But remember we are still safe at home, not stuck, we can be thankful for that.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Love is like swallowing hot chocolate before it has cooled off. It takes you by surprise at first, but keeps you warm a long time.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Today everything must be easy and it mustn’t take time…ready meals, powdered hot chocolate and instant coffee…Living takes time. We need to give each other time.

I think I just might have to make myself a cup and celebrate today! Stay safe and warm :)
Peppermint cocoa sounds like a perfect accompaniment to cold weather. Yours not only sounds good, but it looks wonderful! Happy SONday!
Cocoa is great for cold December days and nights! Funny we were 80 degrees last weekend and 65 degrees today.
