ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is National Eggnog Day which is a day to enjoy one of the most popular beverages for the Christmas holidays, so it’s important that this is occasion is celebrated on Christmas Eve.
The traditional recipe for eggnog is milk, cream, sugar, beaten eggs, spices and sometimes alcohol. In Europe eggnog is traditionally made with white wine. Americans drink it with bourbon or rum while Peruvians use pomace brandy and Germans use beer.
There are a few theories about how eggnog got its name. One story claims that eggnog was first called egg and grog, which was eventually shortened to eggnog. According to other sources the name comes from the Old English word for strong ale, nog. This theory suggests that the combination of the words egg and nog refers to any drink that contains both eggs and strong alcohol.
Regardless of how it got its name, it has been a favorite holiday beverage for years. To celebrate make some today to toast the holidays!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Nothing ever seems too bad, too hard, or too sad when you’ve got a Christmas tree in the living room.

I do love eggnog and have some in the fridge all though the Christmas season. I particularly like mine sprinkled with some nutmeg. I like the spicy flavor. Here its a nonalcoholic drink for me and I love it with Christmas cookies.
It’s Christmas Eve and it’s all quiet here. Nothing is stirring, not even a mouse. I may go to visit my sister today and plan on joining DS#5 for dinner tomorrow and DD and her family on Saturday when we’ll be doing our family Zoom call which is our family gathering for this year. We are having appetizers for dinner and keeping it on the simple side. No mess, no fuss. I made up some sausage cheese balls to take along to share.
DSIL’s mom finally agreed to go on a ventilator so we’re praying this gets her going on the road to recovery. It’s not a good Christmas for him and the family with their mom in the hospital. Please continue to keep her and them in your prayers.
We have no snow on the ground right now, but a winter storm is moving in and they say our rain will change to snow and overnight we’ll have snow. So it will be a white Christmas here. Our area should see only an inch or two, but further east and south of us it could be a whole lot worse.
Tomorrow is Christmas Day and I’’ll be keeping you and yours in my prayers for a happy and Merry Christmas !
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve. Happy Thursday!

Let's keep Christmas in our hearts all year long !
I love eggnog too and prefer it without alcohol too. I'm glad DSIL’s mom finally agreed to go on the ventilator, praying she will make a full and speedy recovery. Enjoy your dinner with DS#5 tomorrow and your time with DD and her family on Saturday for your family Zoom call. I hope the weather doesn't get too bad, but a white Christmas sure sounds nice. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Such cute pictures of angels and shepherds :) Will continue to pray for DSIL's mom. Hoping she makes a full recovery! We have a bottle of alcoholic eggnog in the fridge from last Christmas still LOL. Never got around to drinking it. Might have to see if it had a date of expiration :)

I, too, love egg nog and have been indulging in 3-4 big swallows each morning. Gosh, what will I do when it disappears from our grocery stores?! There's an outside chance we may get snow flurries tonight... it was 58* when I got up, but the temps have been dropping all day. Looking at 27* before dawn. Brrrr! Still praying for DSIL's momma!
