ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1ST, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

WELCOME DECEMBER !
The month of December is Aids Awareness Month, Buckwheat Month, National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month, National Pear Month, National Tie Month, Operation Santa Paws, Safe Toys and Gifts Month, and Worldwide Food Service Safety Month
Today is Giving Tuesday which is an opportunity to step back from the chaos of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and embrace the best part of the holidays, the season of giving.
The tradition of charitable giving during the holidays began thousands of years ago. Today it continues to be an important part of many cultures and religions around the world. During the Hindu festival of Diwali, for example, dana, charitable giving and seva, selfless service, are two key components of the holiday.
To celebrate today, donate to your favorite nonprofit, drop off some canned goods at your local food pantry, or organize a neighborhood coat drive.
Today is also World Aids Day, Eat an Apple Day and National Christmas Lights Day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into the giving.
Mother Teresa
The pictures today feature a few of the Christmas lights around our town taken a couple of years ago. I’d gone on a ride with DS#5 and family to view the lights. It’s one of my favorite things to do and I appreciate all the work that goes into decorating for Christmas. In lots of ways it’s way of giving from the people who do it. Sharing the magic of Christmas with others.
I do have a favorite charity I always give to and will be doing that soon. Christmas seems to be a time when folks need our help more than any other time of year. Not only in money, but warm clothing and blankets too. It’s cold out and many don’t have a place to keep warm. I’m so thankful for my warm and cozy home.
November certainly went out with a bang and this morning we’re supposed to see the worst of the storm. So bundle up and plan to give yourself some extra time to travel if you’re going to work. It’s not nice out and it’s time to take it slow and sure.
Depending on where you live, some could be looking at 15 inches of snow. No light matter for sure. Right now it look like we only hove 3 or 4.
On the menu for dinner tonight is:
Savory Pasta with Onions, Bacon and Greens
1/2 lb. bacon
2 onions, sliced thin
2 tbsp. butter
1 lb greens, any chard, kale or spinach
8 oz. any pasta, shells preferred
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
In skillet, cook bacon until almost crispy. Remove from pan but leave the grease. Add onion and cook over low heat. Stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile prepare pasta according to package direction. Drain.
Add the greens and cook until onions are caramelized and greens wilted and cooked through. Add butter or additional bacon grease if the onions and greens seem dry.
Season with salt and pepper and garlic powder.
Add finished onion mixture and bacon to pasta and stir to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper..
You can’t go wrong no matter which pasta you choose. If you’re new to dark leafy greens, chard has the mildest flavor of them all. If your family loves greens feel free to double the quantity.
This recipe is enough for dinner for a family of four. If you want leftovers or have hearty eaters double th recipe. Feel free to leave the amount of bacon the same, just add more grease to start. If you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle on some parmesan cheese.
I hope you all have a;TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I am heading to the grocery store this afternoon to do a big stock up. Our store organizes the Christmas meal donations for people in need. I'll be donate for meals for hubby and I for Giving Tuesday. Bundle up and stay warm and toasty during the storm Ma. Our high for today is 59, a chilly day for Florida. Enjoy your yummy dinner tonight!
Wow that is a lot of snow that might come your way or surrounding areas! Stay safe and warm! We give monthly to the rescue mission here :)

I'm always on the look-out for creative pasta dishes, and this looks like something Tom would love. Good to know about the chard.
Our region experienced a brutal cool-down (for us, anyway) last night. I'm reminded of those unfortunate souls with no adequate winter wear or shelter. So many opportunities to give!
I have never eaten greens or chard, sure wish I could pop over for a bite to try it:)
