ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Christmas Tree Day which is the day to celebrate every type of Christmas tree we use to deck the halls during the Holiday season. National Christmas tree days provides the perfect opportunity to set up your tree if you haven’t already done it.
Christmas trees first became a tradition in 18th century Germany. To celebrate the holiday people decorated trees in their homes with candles or built Christmas pyramids out of wood. Queen Victoria, who married her German cousin in 1840 is credited with making the Christmas tree part of mainstream culture. By the 1890’s Christmas trees became popular in the U.S.
Happy National Christmas Tree day!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Some Christmas tree ornaments do more than glitter and glow, they represent a gift of love given a long time ago.
Tom Baker
The pictures today are of a few of the Christmas trees throughout the years at my children’s homes. I actually bought a live tree when I went to the Grocery store last week. It’s only about 2 feet high and is in a pot that sits on the table. It’s called a Norfolk Island Pine and is an indoor plant that supposed to live all year long inside. We’ll see now how long I can keep it living. The care instructions were in such fine print I had to get my magnifying glass out to read them. It says to keep the soil wet but not let the plant sit in water. So I’ll try not to drown it. It also says to sit in a sunny window which is hard to do when there is no sun. Ah well, we’ll see what happens…
It also came with a few decorations on it. A star at the top and some golden bulbs attached. That’s my kind of tree. For years now all I’ve had sitting out at Christmas are some little artificial table top trees that are lighted and don’t take up much space. I gave away my larger tree and all the decorations. This is really all I need as it’s only me here anymore. I’ve decide to keep things simple and easy. There are plenty of other decorations scattered about that make it look Christmassy here.
Making it easier for myself I’m also enjoying my leftovers today from the lasagna I fixed yesterday. It was good and I imagine it will only taste better the second time around. What’s leftover after today will go into the freezer for another time.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

8715.for leftovers that are even better warmed up again
8716. for lots of pictures to share thanks to my family
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our
troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The Christmas tree is a symbol of love, not money. There’s a kind of glory to them when they are all lit up that exceeds anything all the money in the world could buy.

It's time to deck the halls !
Beautiful photos! Since it's National Christmas Tree Day I guess I'll go ahead and take out my little trees too. I also gave away my big tree, gave it to my son. I have several small ones that are very sentimental, most made by or given to me by people who have passed. Oh and your lasagna will definitely be better the second day, always is!
How fun, your buying yourself that table-top tree! It sounds like the perfect addition to your home.
Our first year here in Alabama, Tom picked out a little (3') Norfolk Pine that we adorned with tiny fairy lights. I'm not a great custodian of living things, but despite looking rather homely, it's perfectly healthy and (seemingly) happy outside.
Great pictures of the trees; always fun to look at them no matter when they were taken. I have seen some of those small trees here too. I always enjoy leftovers myself :)

Haven't put anything out yet and won't do a lot. Like you I have cut back to just a few small things that are easy to put up and take down. You live tree sounds great and if no sun you can put it under artificial light and that will help.
