ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 14TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

There are three distinct types of simian primates. Familiar species like baboons and macaques, are classified as Old World Monkeys, Capuchins and howler monkeys are New World Monkeys and chimpanzees and gorillas are Apes. There are currently 264 known species in the world.
To celebrate Monkey day, we could all indulge in some mischievous monkey business .
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Monkey see, Monkey do.

Today I’m going two quit monkeying around and get serious with getting out my Christmas cards. I got started plenty early and I did get stamps so there iw no reason at all that I can’t get this done and put them in the mail.
Monkeys are cute and funny. One of my grandsons had a stuffed monkey that he took with him every where he went when he was younger. When ever I think of a monkey, I think of him.
I don’t have any pictures to share of monkeys today, but I wanted to share of DS#5 and his family making gingerbread houses this past weekend. However I still cannot upload any new pictures So they are of ginger bread house we made at my house a few years ago. It was lots of fun and everyone was very creative too.
It’s Monday and my day to cook here at my house. The leftovers from the weekend are gone, so it’s time to cook up something new.
On the menu for today is:
Make Ahead Broccoli Cheddar Quiche
Makes 8 servings
1 frozen piecrust shell, whole wheat preferred
1 8 oz. package broccoli florets
1 1/2 tsp. olive oil
1 cup chopped sweet onion
4 large eggs
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Let piecrust thaw at room temperature 10 minutes. Place in preheated oven and bake until lightly browned. Let cool slightly, Reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees.
Cook broccoli according to package directions until tender crisp. Coarsely chop larger pieces.
Heat oil in large skillet, add onion and cook until light golden.
Whisk eggs and evaporated milk in a medium bowl. Stir in brocolli, onion, cheese and salt and pepper. Pour mixture into prepared pie crust.
Bake at 375 degrees until just set and edges are brown. 30 to 35 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving .
This is a great recipe to make ahead, simply reheat before serving or cut into slices and reheat when needed. Be sure to cook the broccoli until it’s just barely tender or the final dish will have overcooked soggy broccoli.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

8731. for a new week, another chance to get it right
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

What ever kind of monkey business you get up to day, make it something fun !
I love seeing everyone enjoying making gingerbread houses, brings back so many memories with my own children through the years. Enjoy your delicious quiche this evening!
The only time I tried (key word) making a gingerbread house I wound up with more sticky icing on my hands and clothes than on the cracker. Unfortunately, this was a departmental exercise at my last job ... so I was definitely old enough to know better. Your artists look far more skilled! (And I love the aprons!)
Cute pictures from making gingerbread houses in the past :) I saw that son/family had made one this past week. It looked so cute on their table!
Monkeys are interesting animals; fun to look at but not necessarily a favorite of mine.
