NATIONAL GET OUT OF THE DOG HOUSE DAY

National Get out of the Doghouse Day takes place on the third Monday in July and is a day to get out of trouble. If you wronged someone, or said or did something you shouldn’t have to somebody, this is your day to make things right. Tell them it’s National Get out of the Doghouse Day and see if it works.

It's like a Get Out of Jail Free card. If you're in trouble with someone you love, today's your day for a reprieve.

Oh Oh. Screwed up again? Have you been banished to the doghouse? Well today’s the day to ask for forgiveness and try to work on getting yourself back in the house.

SUMMER VACATION DAY #9

This is our final day of travel and by this evening I should be home. We'll leave Route 65 behind and travel Route 71 north. Yesterday seemed very long with lots of miles behind us. DS#1 and #6 should have made it home last night sometime, but we made a stop in Nashville to see the Parthenon there so we are behind them. We did hear yesterday morning from DS#4 and he was already home and DD and her hubby are taking a side trip to the beach for a few days as they are doing some celebrating for their anniversary and won't be back home till some time mid week.

We stayed all night in a Best Western Plus that wasn't as nice as the one last night. No fridge and no microwave. Otherwise it was ok. I checked all the beds for bugs but thankfully didn't find any in any of the places we stayed at.

SUMMER VACATION DAY #8

Yesterday was an adventure for sure. Lots and Lots of driving and lots of rain too. Everyone is probably glad we left and took the rain with us. DS#2 hadn't had rain in weeks till we got there.

We hadn't been on the road long at all when a big strip of truck tire hit the front drivers side of the car denting the bumper and breaking out one of the fog lights. Luckily that was all and after DS#5 made a few repairs with zip ties to hold the bumper on we were on our way again.

Today we should make it into Nashville where they hope to see the Parthenon. Then we'll continue on home. We should be there tomorrow.

TOSS AWAY THE COULD HAVES AND THE SHOULD HAVES DAY

Sometimes nothing causes more stress than wondering what might have been. Well, this is an absolutely foolish way to go about one's life, and July 16th celebrates the tossing away of could haves and should haves

So something did not work out for you in the past, so what? Everything that is meant to be, simply is. Living a life full of regret is not the brightest path, try to steer clear of that thought process.

Living in the past is a dangerous game. It will eventually drive you over the sanity edge if you let it affect you too much. Don't play! Many people procrastinate because they focus a bit too much on the past. We call it the could-a-would-a effect.

Take this day and let go!

GUMMI WORM DAY

TODAY IS ALSO THE FULL BUCK MOON

Bucks begin to grow new antlers at this time. This full Moon was also known as the Thunder Moon, because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month

We are hoping for clear skies to see that moon and not thunderstorms for sure.

SUMMER VACATION DAY #6

The man who doesn't relax and hoot a few hoots voluntarily, now and then, is in great danger of hooting hoots and standing on his head for the edification of the pathologist and trained nurse, a little later on.

Today we celebrate DS#2's retirement from the military. There will be a very special ceremony in his honor which all of us will attend and then a big party also in his honor tonight.

Yesterday, I was almost, but not quite, done in by the trip to New Orleans. It really is a sight to see and I didn't want to miss it but there is a lot of walking to do there. It rained off and on too, keeping the temps down, still it was like being in a gigantic steam bath.

PANDEMONIUM DAY!

Pandemonium Day is a day of sheer bedlam, and utter chaos. If ever there was a wild and whacky, unorganized day, today it that day. Everyone has a day like this once in while. Its a day when all sort of unexpected things occur. Its a time when everything is happening at the same time, and at a very fast pace.

Don't let today, or any other day shake you up. If Pandemonium prevails, just go with the flow in a calm, cool manner. Sanity will return soon enough.....we hope.

I may be justifying my pockets of chaos, but I will always choose people over perfection and the heart over task and tidy.

SUMMER VACATION DAY #5

Sunny warm and humid here but sitting on the back patio with ceiling fans going it is not bad at all. I love summer but here the sun is too hot to be out in unless you are at the beach and that is where I got to go yesterday!

Today we are going to New Orleans. I've heard there is an Aquarium there that has air conditioning...that may be just the place to be. We'll see...
