Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.
Always think on the bright side--no matter what life brings to your day. You'll gain a treasure within your soul that no worry or hardship can ever take away. Isaac Purcell
RECIPES AND CRAFTS
The labels shown below will take you to posts with recipes and a few craft ideas that I've included in my daily entries.
I'm looking out the window and the day is drab and dreary, And I'm trying to console myself by thinking something cheery I know it's simply horrible to get in such a slump And I also know it's up to me to get across the hump And I realize I'm selfish to mention this to you For, gee, you might be feeling a little 'low-down' too but often when I feel like this I tell myself it's true That I am not the only one who feels 'low-down and blue' And just knowing there are others who feel the way I do Renews my sinking spirit and keeps me smiling through and know that it's natural to take a 'spirit-dive' Provides the spunk and courage to hang on and survive And while there are a lot of moods that we can drive away by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE in all we do and say, There also is a loneliness that God meant us to feel But, gee, it sure is mighty hard to know which one is real And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack' who never saw the sun And just complained that every day was such a dreary one. But I know that all the dark days are just part of God's plan We should accept them graciously and do the best we can... So I'll just keep on trying for I know it's 'Gospel true' there never was a cloud so dark the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter
I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal. The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life. You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share. In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about 'the bright side'. 'On Ya'-ma

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bright side of life; gathering its roses and sunshine and makingthe most that happens seem the best.
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Pancake Day which celebrates the first day of Lent, the 40 days before Easter. Pancakes are round, flat breakfast cakes made from eggs, butter, flour and milk. The popular breakfast item is cooked on the stove or griddle until the batter reaches a golden brown color. You can serve pancakes with maple syrup, butter, jam, fruit, and much more.
The origin of pancakes can be traced back to the Copper Age. Otzi the Iceman, who is believed to live between 3400 and 3100 BCE, was found to have remnants of a basic form of pancake in his stomach at the time of his death.
To celebrate today make a hefty helping of pancakes. Try experimenting with fun toping and flavors like chocolate chips, butterscotch, banana, apple and more.
Today is also National Peanut Butter Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
No matter how flat you make your pancakes, it still has two sides.

In our part of the country it is also l Paczki Day which are delicious Polish jelly donut like treats that come with fillings like poppyseed, jelly, and custard. I’ve got some here that are raspberry filled I’ll be having my pancakes for dinner tonight.
It’s hard to believe its the beginning of Lent already and that Easter is now so close by. With Easter also comes the beginning of Spring and I’m getting excited.
The first day of Lent is also called Ash Wednesday and our church will be giving out ashes to parishioners, but I think I’ll watch the services on line. I’m waiting to hear news of my car and haven’t got the means to go anywhere right now unless someone gives me a ride.
I do have to go out later this afternoon as I have an appointment with my Kidney specialist. DSIL is going to give me a ride as he is the only one off work right now. I’m glad to finally find out the result of my recent tests. Hopefully all will be good.
After many years of doing this newsletter plus my blog on blogger the blog was removed yesterday because they said someone reported me as spam. I don’t know what to think of that but now I’m down to doing only this archived message on blogger. I hope they don’t remove this too as there are years of information on this which I want to keep.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!!

REading this far back on the blog I found this comment section. Good to find it. Not sure you will see one this far back, but we are thinking of you and are reading the Blog and are following it. I do hope somehow you get the Blog back. Love ya Sherry & jack
For some reason I have not seen comment sections on the other.
I'm stunned and saddened to hear this, Ma. So, Blogger just arbitrarily removed the blog without first investigating what that person said? Now I'm wondering if you have any recourse? Scary!
'Wishing you luck at your doctor's appointment. Enjoy those pancakes!
Spam! I was so worried when I didn't see your blog when I came to comment. I would so hate to lose touch with you after all these years. Prayers for your tests and hope you enjoyed your Pre-Lenten treats.
