ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30TH, 2022
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Pencil Day which celebrates the first ever patent for a modern pencil with an eraser attached to it. Hymen Lipman created the wooden pencil and received high praise for how easy it was to use for writing and drawing.
A single wooden pencil can write 45,000 words or draw a line that is 35 miles long. A pencil can also write under water, upside down, or in zero gravity. Manufacturers painted the first pencils yellow because the color was associated with royalty and honor. People quckly began assuming that yellow pencils were the best type.
To celebrate today, set aside your laptop and use a pencil and paper to write instead.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I always write in pencil, so I can erase.
Elsa Peretti
There are a lot of pencils here at my house. I have a container of them on my desk. Some are wooden pencils that you have to sharpen and some are mechanical ones. I like the mechanical ones best because you don’t have to sharpen them, But they do cost more. I have colored pencils too which are fun to use when I work on my adult coloring book.
Anyway you look at it pencils can be a lot of fun. What would we do without them?
Truthfully I use my laptop for most of what I do, but now and then I write up my lists with a pencil. If I’m writing a letter or a note, I’ll often use a pen. But you can only erase the pencil. Ink is more permanent.
On Wednesdays I take the time to cook something new and I also make up my menu for next week.
On the menu for next week is:
Monday - Zingy Baked Chicken Nuggets
Wednesday - Italian Turkey Meatballs
Friday - Spinach Pizza Quesadillas
Weekend - Chicken Provolone
On the menu for today is:
Chicken Broccoli Casserole
Makes 6 servings
1 pkg, 6oz, chicken stuffing mix
2 cups cubed cooked chicken
1 cup frozen broccoli florets, thawed
1 can condensed broccoli cheese soup, undiluted
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare stuffing mix according to package directions, using only 1 1/2 cups water.
In large bowl, combine chicken, broccoli and soup. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Top with stuffing, sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered 20 minutes. Uncover , and bake 15 minutes longer.
You could substitute turkey or ham for the chicken if you want. I’ll be using the chicken. I will also be using fresh broccoli because I have some on hand.
I use the Alexa app on my phone to keep my grocery list on and no longer write out a list. Too often I’d leave it at home, but I always have my phone with me, so it makes sense.
After a few days in the deep freeze, today we’re supposed to be close to 70 degrees and sunny, so it will be a very good day to get out and about.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Map out your future - but do it in pencil. The road ahead is as long as you make it. Make it worth the trip.

Pencils with erasers are indispensable.
A pencil will never run out. A pen? Evil little things.
Cute back story! I once heard that yellow is the most distinguishable color in the spectrum; hence, why some fire trucks and ff's uniforms are yellow.
I FINALLY downloaded the Alexa app for my phone. Easier than I thought, and now I won't have to worry about forgetting my shopping list.
;-)
Fascinating information about the pencil and the casserole sounds delicious.
