The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Anthem Day which honors Francis Scott Key who wrote a poem called Defense of Fort McHanry. Key penned the verses after witnessing the British attack on Baltimore Harbor during the war of 1812. The sight of the American flag flying triumphantly over Fort McHenry in the morning inspired his legendary words.
Key decided to set his piece to music and borrowed a tune from a popular song called, To Anacreon in Heaven. Not long after it was first published, people began referring to the piece as the Star Spangled Banner. The song became an overnight success and bands began playing it during public events and military occasions. In March of 1931, over a hundred years after Key wrote it, The Star Spangled Banner became the national anthem of the United States.
To celebrate today refresh your memory and sing the National Anthem.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation !Then conquer we must when our cause it just. And this be our motto, In God we trust! And the star spangled banner in triump shall wave . O’re the land of the free and the home of the Brave.
Francis Scott Key
I learned to sing the National Anthem at an early age, in school. It makes me feel proud to display my flag and proud of the country I live in. I’m a proud American!
I love to hear it sung especially on the 4th of July watching fireworks in the sky. Makes me imagine the bombs bursting in the air.
My doctor appointment on Tuesday went well. They said my kidney condition actually improved. But they are still changing one of my Blood Pressure pills. He said my potassium count was too high and that this medication would change that. I’m to take it for a week and then go for more lab work to make sure it is working the way he expects. Other than that I don’t have to go back to the doctor for another 4 months. I’m hoping this change does the trick!
For today ,I’ve got my car back but it is not fixed. They had to order a part for it which will take two weeks to get here. So until it comes they cannot fix it for me. At least I can still drive it.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Trying to look on the brighter side. I like that quote, polish the dullside. ;-)
Car repairs are a big problem now especially with the chips that may be involved. The Dr. report sounded good.
Sending love from down this way,

I love our National anthem, too! It may not be the easiest to sing, but that doesn't diminish its meaning.
Congrats on the good doctor's report!
I may borrow your inspiration for National Anthem Day. I saw a wonderful exhibit in Washington at one of the Smithsonian Museums about Francis Scott Key and seeing the flag after the British invasion. So moving! Take care and good wishes for your blood work.
