ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 18TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day which celebrates his life and legacy. He devoted his life to the pursuit of justice and equality for all. It’s an opportunity to honor his memory today.
President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law on November 2, 1983, 15 years after thea assignation of the civil rights leader. A congressman from Michigan introduced the legislation just a few months after his death in 1968, but it took years of petitions, politics and personal appeals from Corretat Scott King to get it passed.
There are only two other federal holidays that honor individuals, Washington’s Birthday, also known as President’s Day, and Columbus Day.
Today take a moment to honor Dr. King’s work and reflect on his dream for America.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Martin Luther King Jr.
I do believe we were created to be equal. We are loved no matter what color we are and it shouldn’t make any difference whether we are yellow, block or red, we are all precious in His sight. We were all created unique and beautiful and it’s good we are different. If everyone looked the same, it would be a boring world.
I believe in the dream of Martin Luther King Jr. it would be wonderful if we could all unite holding hands together around the world. We should stand united together and love each other. The world would be a much better place.
A new week has arrived and with that a new recipe to make for dinner tonight.
On my menu is:
Sirloin with Mushroom Sauce and Cheese Smashed Potatoes
Sirloin with Mushroom Sauce
1 one pound beef top sirloin steak
1 tsp ground pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp butter
1 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup red whine or additional beef broth
Rub steak with pepper and salt. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat, cook until meat reaches desired doneness. For medium rare 6 to 7 minutes. A meat thermometer should read 135 degrees. Remove from pan and keep warm.
Add mushrooms to pan; cook and stir over medium high heat until lightly browned. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 minute. Add broth and wine. Bring to a boil, stirring to loosen any browned bits from pan. Cook until liquid is reduced by half. Slice steak and serve with mushroom sauce and Cheese Smashed Potatoes
I didn’t have wine on hand so added extra broth instead. Sometimes I even add pomegranate juice
Cheese Smashed Potatoes
1 lb small red potatoes, quartered
1 cup califlorets
1/3 c shreded chedawr cheese
1/4 c. sour cream
1/4 tsp salt
Place potatoes in large sauce pan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover and cool 10 minutes. Add cauliflower; cook until vegetables are tender.
Drain; mash with cheese, sour cream and salt.
I tried but didn’t fishes putting Christmas away over the weekend. I really want to be done by the 20th, so today I’ll continue on that and hopefully get it all put away.
Everything needs a good dusting and vacuuming too once that get done. I’ll put out all the fresh linens for my Valentines Day decorations too and that is what is in my pictures for today.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that
Martin Luther King Jr.
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8030. for equality for all
8831. for love and kindness of others
8832. for a new recipe to try
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Martin Luther King Jr.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Never forget to Dream.
That sirloin recipe sounds really yummy!
'Sure like your pops of red! I may have to break down and bring some red (Valentines) into the dining room a little early. It's the only place in the house I make an effort to decorate, and it feels pretty stark and sad since all the Christmas stuff got put away.
I believe we are all created equal and that everyone should have equal rights. I'll stop there because I don't want to bring politics to your page. I love all your pretty Valentines Day decorations and your dinner tonight sounds delicious. Have a great week Ma :)
