ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 7TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is Intenational Programers’ Day which is when we celebrate the people who create the software behind our favorite websites, digital gadgets, appliances and vehicles. Programers also known as developers or software engineers write the code that runs our computers. There are many different types of computer languages and most programers specialize in one of these. Facebook for example, is primarily built using PHP, while others use Ruby.
Although women hold only 25 percent of all professional IT jobs in the U.S., the first programer in history was a British countess named Ada Lovelace. She was a mathematician and wrote the first algorithm intended for a computer.
To celebrate today, thank a programer and find about all the amazing innovations that have come from programers.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Access to computers and the internet has become a basic need for education in our society.
Kent Conrad
I am truly thankful for the programers that keep my computer running efficiently. Computers keep us in touch with each other during this time of isolation. We can even order groceries and other supplies on the computer. Computers are used in just about every walk of life these days and deserve our appreciation.
One of my sons is a programer and designs business software. He is very good with computers and has always had a very good job. Things are always changing so programs are often changed too. I’d say he has some great job security.
I for one, would be lost without my computer. I depend upon it daily to keep me in touch with family and friends. I’m not very smart and know very little about them, but I certainly appreciate those that do.
Today, I’m to have a check up at the doctor’s office to see how my blood pressure is doing. I think it’s still not what it should be. The pills are doing a reasonable job of keeping it down, but it should be even lower than it is. I’m mostly in the 140’s and should be in the 120’s or lower. I also think I’ve gained a little bit of my weight back. With the holidays I splurged a lot more than I’d been doing and I’m anxious to see what my weight is now. I don’t have a pair of scales here at my house, so am interested to see what it is now. Hopefully not too bad. I’ve had little exercise here these days with being inside so much due to the cold and I’m sure that’s made a difference too. We’ll see what he has to say today…
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I think it’s fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we’ve every created. They’re tools of communication, they're tools of creativity and they can be shaped by their user.
Bill Gates
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

8800.for a great doctor that keeps tabs on me
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Computers themselves, and the software yet to be developed, will revolutionize the way we learn.

Thankful for computers and modern technology that keeps us in touch.
I am so thankful for computers too! How lonely the last year would have been if it's weren't for technology. I hope all goes well at your check up today. Keep us posted!
Given the holidays, I suspect your doctor will be most understanding.
Like my car, I wouldn't want to ever be without my computer ... but I've no clue what goes on 'under the hood.' Thankful for your son and his ilk (above my pay-grade) to keep us connected!
Hope the visit with the doctor went well Ma :) I finally broke down and bought scales 2 years ago when we were losing weight. Now I weigh weekly (well I didn't the 2 weeks of the holidays LOL) but if I'm up a pound or two then I readjust eating for a bit. It does help me be more accountable. Its great with technology and computers and keeping in touch that way but I think some people carry it too far and are always on their phones or computers and lose sight of what is around them.

I bought my first computer when they first came out and have enjoyed many different things over the years from creating a Christmas card program to playing games to running a business and all the research I did for my book. I am grateful for them too.
