ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 15TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is National Hat Day which celebrates a head covering that can be worn for protection against the elements , for religious reasons, for safety or as a fashion accessory. In the past hats were also an indication of social status.
It’s a day to don your favorite fedora, cap, cloches, derby or sunhat. Dig out your ceremonial best and tell the story behind it. Wear your warmest turque, stocking cap, or beanie and share the name you give it. There are so many hats, fashions, and names we give them. Certainly we could wear a hat a day and never get through all of them.
Depending on where you live, if you are outside in the middle of a cold January you may definitely want to wear a hat to celebrate today.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
How a hat makes you feel is what a hat is all about.
Philip Tracey
These days about the only hat I wear is to protect me from the weather. I have a winter hat that is knitted and warm and I have a summer hat that is straw and keeps out the sunshine.
I do remember when we all wore hats when we went to church on Sunday. It’s was popular at the time and we’d have been frowned upon if we didn’t have one our heads. These days that is a thing of the past. My boys wore ball caps mostly so they wouldn’t have to comb their hair. I often had to remind them to take them off when they come into the house. I do find a hat keeps me warmer in the winter and even wear one with my coat hood pulled up over it when it’s very cold outside. I pull it down over my ears and keep warmer. They say a lot of body heat is lost through our heads.
My favorite hat is a beach hat and that is what the pictures are of today, our beach on the shores of Lake Erie. It’s one of my favorite places to be and find it very relaxing and refreshing in the summertime. The good Lord knows I do love the sunshine, but sometimes the shade a hat can provide is very welcome.
I mistakenly shared my recipe for Friday, yesterday and that was for Garlicky Shrimp and Spinach. Absolutely delicious so I will be having it again today. To find out how to make it simply check out my post from yesterday.
Seems these days my days tend to all run together and I’ll have to start double checking what day it actually is. Today is actually Friday. One of my favorite days of the week. We get to celebrate what we’ve accomplished for the week and then sit back and enjoy the weekend. I may not have got done all I wanted too, but I did get a few things done and that is definitely better than none at all. I do what I can to make the best of life and what I have in it.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
A woman wears many hats in one lifetime— why shouldn’t one of them be a crown?

Thankfulfor a hat to wear when I need one
I remember the days of everyone wearing hats to church. That was back in the days when older women used that blue rinse. I thought it was so pretty when I was a kid and couldn't wait to get old enough to have blue hair lol! You look so cute and carefree in your sun hat :)
I, too, recall when everyone wore hats to church. Mother and I weren't crazy about the idea, but daddy insisted. (Like Tom Landry, my father loved wearing hats.) An visor is my usual 'go-to', but I do adore my two big straw hats. Great for those lousy hair days. :)
