ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 5TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Bird Day which horors the study of birds which has been a popular pastime since the Victorian Era and the term bird watching first appeared in the title of a book 1901. Millions of people across the world consider themselves bird watchers. This is defined as anyone who’s has traveled for the primary purpose of observing birds or has closely observed and identified birds around the home.
Since the 19th century, bird protection has become an increasingly important issue. Birds are among the most popular animals in the exotic pet trade and most birds in captive breading programs are kept solely for commercial gain.
In an attempt to put an end to bird captivity, every year Born Free USA and the Animal Protection Institute, and Avian Welfare Coalition team up in support of National Bird Day. Today bird enthusiasts and activists around the US are asked to take action on behalf of captive birds.
January is National Oatmeal Month and Get Organized Month

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, siimpler state of being which we may strive to attain.
Douglas Coupland
Like most people, I do like to watch the birds. Here we get robins in the Spring, but mostly what I see are black birds and an occasional blue jay. When I used to live next door to my middle sister, she fed the birds and we had a lot more to see. It was fun to watch them and they provided hours of entertainment. I don’t have a bird feeder here, so the variety is not as plentiful.
We do have the big birds too like the Canadian goose in abundance and I see a lot of them around here. They love the lake that is part of our park. We also have a few ducks that waddle though now and then. That’s what my pictures are of today.Wildlife are wonderful, but we don’t see much of them in the wintertime. They’ll be sure to return in the Spring.
I’m so looking forward to warmer weather and thinking Spring here. It will be nice to see the sunshine once again and leaves on the trees. Right now there is not much to see outside but bare trees and gray skies.
These dark days do tend to get me down more than I’d like. I keep on trying to make my own sunshine chasing the darkness away most anyway I can. Mostly I cook and eat what I cook.I have the leftover cabbage skillet that I made yesterday and may have to add some colorful corn to the mix today. It’s yellow like sunshine isn’t it?
For the second time since I’ve lived here, my kitchen cupboards are trying to break loose from the wall and ceiling here. Apparently they weren’t installed correctly. DSIl is who noticed it when they brought the air fryer over and DD helped me empty the cupboards. After the 1st time this happened I tried to reduce the amount of weight I put in them, but now they are doing it again. Maintenance is supposed to come and fix them.Meanwhile everything has been taken out and is now sitting on the dining room table or in the living room. I’m going to sort some of it out and see what else I can get rid of but I’ve already gotten rid of so much, I’m not sure what I want to let go.
I hope your week is off to a better start than mine has been.I’m trying to remember it could always be worse.
I hope you all have aTERRIFIC Tuesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simple because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.
J. M. Barrie
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings.
Victor Hugo
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

What’s New at My House

Birdwatching is hours of cheap entertainment.
We often hang a feeder on the patio, and we enjoy watching the songbirds.
I enjoy watching the birds too. Sorry to hear about the cabinets. I hope they fix them properly this time. One good thing, you rent so it's no cost to you. My youngest rents a house with two friends, there is very little kitchen cabinet space. He uses an under the bed storage bin to keep unopened food and drinks in. Maybe you could do something like that with canned items or other heavy things if necessary.
It is just what is happening to ME! I have noticed that one set of my cupboards... made four years ago when I moved back here after Keith died....has dropped down a miniscule amount, and I can see plain unpainted wood, so I know they have MOVED. I am not even sure what to do about it, because I can't call "maintenance" out here in the country. I am going to try to reach the man who hung them originally and see if he will come and do a few jobs for me... I believe he could fix it. I just had a nephew hang two front doors for me, but he did not do a stellar job this time, and I am afraid to have him touch the cabinets. I commiserrate. sp!
I am a bird feeder but I added up my yearly costs just this afternoon, and I think I am going to have to find a cheaper hobby!
We just returned from UAB ... too late to put out the new birdhouses and feed my kids got us for Christmas. Hopefully, the birds won't mind. (LOL)
I'm SO glad your cabinet situation was discovered in time. I can't bear to think what would have happened if they 'let loose' in the middle of the night while you were sleeping.
I too am glad the problem with your cabinets was discovered before it made a big mess or worse yet hurt you in any way. Glad stuff is out of it and maintenance is coming to fix it. We have the Canadian geese here and they stay all year. You would think when it got summer hot they would want some place cooler. They do like to hang around where there is water though like at golf courses :)
