ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 12TH, 2021
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Hot Tea Day which celebrates the the second most consumed beverage in the United Stated, behind only coffee. A cold January day is a great time two enjoy a steaming cup of hot tea. To most of us tea is a delicious and relaxing drink. Drinking tea is healthy for you. With these things in mind it is only fitting that today is National Hot Tea Day. Tea has been consumed for almost 5,000 years. It’s origin dates back to ancient China. The year was 2,737 B.C., during the Tang Dynasty. According to legend, some tea leaves fell into a pot of water that was being boiled for Chinese emperor Shen Nung. He drank the brew finding it delicious and relaxing. Legend also says he only drank tea after this day. It’s become popular in Chinese and Asian culture and cuisine. But it wasn’t until the 1600’s A.D. ;that tea was brought to Europe and became popular.
Colonists to the Americas brought the tea with them. But in the mid 1770’s Britain was taxing all sorts of imports to American colonists. The Tea Act of May 10, 1773 proved the boiling point, American colonists strongly objected to the taxes. It led to the biggest tea party ever held. And on December 16, 1777, the colonist boarded a ship loaded with tea being imported by the British East Indies Company. Yelling, no taxation without representation., they dumped the entire shipment into the Boston harbor.
To celebrate today perhaps you and I can have a cup of hot tea during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Why not even top it off with a spot of tea during the evening hours.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.
C.S. Lewis
Although I drink coffee in the morning, I do like a cup of tea in the afternoon or evening. I drink it with lemon and honey in the wintertime. It is soothing and refreshing. Tea has flavonoids and antioxidants that are healthy for you. It’s low caffeine and has no sodium, no fat or sugar. It has zero calories and it’s medicinal value is supported in many studies. I remember whenever my stomach would be upset, my mom would always give me a cup of tea to sip on and some poached eggs on toast.
I drink more tea in the summer than I do in the winter and then I have iced tea. It’s cooling and refreshing. Either way I fix at it, it seems to be very refreshing.
Yesterday was pretty cloudy and dismal here although they had promised more sunshine until Thursday when we are supposed to get some snow. On the bright side the handy men finally made it out to fix my sagging cupboards. They even put a brace under it to give some extra support. It took all day to get the cupboards back in order and things out of the dining and living rooms where it had set all this time. They said I still needed to cut back on what I put in them and I managed to sort out things I rarely use and don’t really need so that should make things more bearable. I had a service for 8 in my dishes and cut it back to a service for 4. If I happen to have company, I can always use paper plates.
I had a lot of mugs that aren’t used very often, seasonal ones that only come out when the holidays come so they’re going to be stored away in the bins that hold my decorations for each season. Some of the food was even put on the counter top as they were already in nice storage containers. I had extra counter space due the addition of my combo, air fryer, microwave and toaster oven. The toaster oven was donated as well as will be the extra dishes I no longer need. I think Salvation Army must love me, I’m a big donator to them.
Now I can finally get back to packing away Christmas here, It got put off after I discovered the problem with my cupboards and nothing much else has been done here. Sooner or later I’ll catch up. They say it isn’t bad luck to have decorations up unless they are still out at Groundhogs day. Surely I’ll be caught up before then.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Under certain circumstances there are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you are cold, tea will warm you;
If you are too heated, it will cool you;
If you are depressed, it will cheer you;
If you are excited, it will calm you.

A bit of love from someone dear…

It's a cold day so a very good day for a cup of tea!
We have a chilly gray day here today too. I'm glad they got your cabinets fixed and that you found some solutions to lighten them up a bit. It's definitely a great day for a nice hot cup of tea. Stay warm!
So glad to hear your cabinets are back ... and reinforced, too. Whew!
You know, I've tried here and there to enjoy hot tea but haven't discovered anything strong enough. (I drink a dark French roast coffee.) Maybe adding lemon and/or honey would make it more palatable? Because I still have a variety-pack box, I'm going to give that a try.
Glad the cabinets got fixed, Ma. Great idea to downsize a bit on things and use paper plates if need be.

Love the picture with the birds!! It is true that we use pretty much the same dishes over and over. I have seen that drainer that sits atop the sink and would consider getting one of those at some point.
