ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 1ST, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is April Fools Day which is a day to beware of practical jokes, pranks and tricks. Although it’s been celebrated for hundreds of years, no one really knows how the tradition began. According to one theory, when France official adopted the Roman calendar in the 1500’s many rural communities continued to celebrate New Year’s Day in April. The people in these small villages became known as the April Fools.
There are many famous April Fools Day jokes. In 1957, the BBC ran a very successful documentary that explained to viewers how spaghetti is grown on spaghetti trees. Many people actually believed it. In 1996 the Taco Bell Corporation took out a fell page ad in 6 major newspapers announcing that it had purchased the Liberty Bell. Hundreds of enraged citizens called to protest the newly named Taco Liberty Bell. The company waited a few hours before admitting it was a practical joke.
To celebrate today, send a card, play a trick on a family member and watch out for pranks played on you.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man know himself to be a fool.
William Shakespeare
As usuall Mother Nature has played an April Fool joke on us today. It’s not unheard of at all, but we have an April Snow. There won’t be much and it will just last for one day, but yes, here in Ohio we have snow.
After several days of warmer Spring weather it seems impossible we could once again be this cold again. Many of us, including me, hoped that winter was over and long gone. But that was not to be.
Hopefully we won’t have anymore coming our way and we can say Spring is truly here!
Today is also a day for new beginnings here in our community. We have gone to cluster mailboxes. No more mail box to walk out to at the end of the drive way. They say this is the way post offices are going to save money. Many housing developments already have them, and now we’re going to have them too. I won’t be checking for my mail every day but will stop to check for it when I happen to be going out for something else. It will also give me a reason to ride my bike more. With the nicer weather coming our way I won’t waste gas driving to the mailbox cluster, but will get some much needed exercise.
Needless to say I’m staying in today where I’ll stay cozy and warm. There is always plenty to do and I keep busy. There truly never is a dull moment here.
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Happy Thursday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
April 1. This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the the other three hundred and sixty-four.
Mark Twain
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9044. for practical jokes that keep me laughing
9045.for warmer weather coming our way
9046. for a warm and comfortable home
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

be aware of practical jokes, pranks and tricks. Don't get fooled.
Ugh, more snow. Sorry Mother nature played an April Fool's Day trick on you! My youngest son was always big on April Fool's Day pranks. I never knew what I would wake up to. One year he coated my hubby's soap with clear nail polish. That was such a funny one. My husband couldn't figure out why his soap wasn't working, he was so confused lol :D
Oh my word, Ma. I'm RHLMAO about the Taco Liberty Bell. Hadn't heard about that one.
I've not 'observed' April Fools for years now, but got taken for a ride last evening when a FB friend published a very plausible fib.
That's too bad about the mailboxes. Maybe, in part, that's also due to theft. I'd never considered that, but I've heard about that happening in other parts of the country. Oh, something else, and I promise to shut up. 🙂 Do you happen to subscribe to the USPS' Informed Delivery? Every morning my e-mail contains image(s) of what's being delivered that day -- so if it's only 'junk' or promotions, I skip even going there for a day or more.
