ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21ST, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day which is a day to celebrate your creativity and new ideas. Today is the last day of World Creativity and Innovation Week. It has been celebrated in over 46 countries since 2002. People in businesses, organizations, schools and communities take part in this day to generate new ideas for a brighter future.
Marci Segal, a creativity specialist came up with the idea. After reading a newspaper headline, Canada Creativity in Crisis, Segal decided to do something about it. With help from her colleagues, she organized the first World Creativity Day to encourage people to use creativity to make the world a better place.
There are many ways to celebrate today, just use your imagination and share some creative activities or brainstorm away to solve a neighborhood problem.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
Maya Angelou
I’m not a very creative person on my own, but I do love to used the ideas that others share to make my life better. I’m only good for searching out those ideas. More can be done from sharing with others, more than anything else.
This weekend I’m about to be a creative grandma and make a chalice cake for one of my granddaughter’s first communion.
This year they will be able to celebrate the date at our church in a class group. The second graders in our church will be able to take their first communion together in the church. What a difference from last year when my daughter's son had to do it on his own, not with his class. I made him a chalice cake as I’ve done for many of my grandchildren over the years. It was not an original idea of my own but one that was shared with parents when my own children made their first communion years ago.
Today’s pictures are of the cake and our Mr. Wonderful's first communion party that followed the ceremony in church.
I’m so thankful that someone shared this idea with me as it’s become a family tradition for me. I made it for my children and now for my grandchildren.
It’s Wednesday and usually my day to do the grocery shopping, but I’ve decided to get out yesterday and do my shopping as the weather is to be very dicey today, and I have a hair cut on Thursday this week. Thursday the temps will go up to the upper 40’s, close to 50 degrees instead of the low 40’s today and there will be no more snow coming down. The sunshime may even come out awhile.
Still I made up my menu for next week to make my shopping list from.
The menu for next week will be:
Monday - Lemony Linguine with Spring Vegetables
Wednesday - Grilled Garden Veggie Pizza
Friday - Naked Fish Tacos
Weekend - Lemon Dijon Pork Sheet Pan Supper
On the menu for today is:
Cheese Tortellini with Tomatoes and Basll
2 tsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 14 oz can whole tomatoes, coarsely chopped, juice reserved
salt and ground pepper, to taste
12 oz. frozen cheese tortellini
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Put a large pot of salted water on to boil. Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring until well browned. Add tomatoes and the juice and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce is slightly thickened.Season with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile cook tortellini until al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain and transfer to a bowl. Toss with tomato sauce and basil. Adjust seasoning as desired. Serve immediately, passing the Parmesan cheese.
I’ll have this with a salad and breadsticks.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!!

That's a beautiful photo of you and your grandson! Elegant!
I'm unfamiliar with the chalice cake, but love pairing traditions with good food! So blessed to get good ideas and recipes from our blogging community. (Sometimes Pinterest can be a bit overwhelming.)
