ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 23RD, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is World Book Day which was created by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO. Its a day to celebrate books, authors, publishers and illustrators. After all reading is a huge part of our lives. This day promotes reading to children and people in under privileged areas.
It was first celebrated in 1995, and is celebrated worldwide. This day is celebrated on April 23rd, because on that date in 1616. a few major authors died including Shakespeare. and a few others were born. World Book Day honors their work and supports other authors, publishers and books out there. This day shows the significance of books for both learning and pleasure. Imagine our world without books?? Stand up of literacy, and show the knowledge and power that comes from books.
Join the celebration by reading a book or two with children. Explain to them not only the importance of reading, but also how enjoyable it can be.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
So many books, so little time.
Frank Zappa
I love books and reading is one of my favorite pastimes. They’ve been a constant companion of mine all through this epidemic. They’ve gotten me through many a rough day when I couldn’t get out and do anything. They’ve been my way to get away from it all.
I may read too much, if that is possible, and I don’t get enough exercise. My doctor says reading is good because it is good for the brain, but that I need more physical exercise.
I’d be lost without a book to read and am always reading. They take me places I’ve never been and provide lots of entertainment. I don’t watch TV much but prefer reading over movies. They are always better.
Today is my day to cook and also to make the chalice cake for my granddaughter’s first communion. It’ll cut out on my reading time, but it’s more important I do the things.
On the menu today is:
Light and Lemony Scampi
Makes 4 servings
1 lb. uncooked shrimp
8 oz. uncooked multigrain pasta
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. olive oil
2 green onions, thinly sliced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
2 tsp. lemon zest
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. ground pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 minced fresh parsley
grated Parmesan cheese, optional
Peel and devein shrimp, removing tails. Cut each shrimp lengthwise in half. Cook pasta according to package directions.
In large nonstick skillet, heat butter and oil over medium high heat. Add shrimp, green onions and garlic.and stir until shrimp turns pink. Remove from pan with a slotted spoon.
Add broth, lemon zest, lemon juice, pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes to same pan. Bring to a boil until liquid is slightly reduced, Return shrimp to pan, heat through, Remove from heat.
Drain pasta, divide among 4 bowls. Top with shrimp mixture, sprinkle with parsley. If desired serve with parmesan cheese.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience this is the ideal life.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

Friday's are always FANTASTIC Days!
I love how you cook such delicious meals!
Books have been a constant companion to me all my life.
Right now I am reading one unlike most of the ones I read.....13 rue Therese....set in Paris.
I especially love novels set in places I will never see with my own eyes.
Counting down to summer!!!
I agree with you, I'd much rather read than watch TV. Your dinner sounds delicious and enjoy making that cake Ma! :)
Learning to read was one of the best gifts my parents - and teachers - ever gave me. Who can't identify with Dr. Seuss', "Oh, the places you'll go!"
