ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is National Son and Daughter Day which recognizes the positive impact chicldren have on their parents lives. The origins of this holiday can be traced back to 1936 Missouri. A man named J. Henry Dusenberry first circulated the idea after overhearing a young child asks why there was not holiday honoring sons and daughters. His efforts caught on and by 1945 people observed the new holiday in as many as 22 states.
To celebrate, parents displayed flowers in their homes to recognize each of their children.
Today is a perfect day to recognize our sons and daughters. Share a meal, enjoy the outdoors together, or remember them with some home videos. You can even send a card to express your love and appreciation. What ever you do let your kids know hoe much the mean to you today.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Don’t worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you.
Robert Fulghum
I love and appreciate all my children, they are very important to me. They are the best part of me and are my reason for doing most anything I do. They encourage and help me when needed and are always there for me.
They make me laugh and they make me cry too, but I’l always love them no matter what they do.
Having a large family like mine, taught me a lot of things I’d never known otherwise, but mostly unconditional love. I found out that whatever I did with love for them always came back to me. Being a mom has meant every thing to me.
I’ve shown these pictures before, They are from a family reunion in 2015, several years ago now but they are the last ones I have of all my family together. Even at that there were still 3 grandchildren that were unable to come and the youngest grandchild wasn’t born yet.
The pictures were taken at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Belvue Ohio. It’s been a favorite place of mine to go for a long time. It was there that I prayed for the ability to have children when I thought I’d never have any and miracles do happen as I was able to have 7 of them. 6 boys and 1 girl. I go back there as often as I can, to say thank you for the gift of my children.
Prayers are answered and I believe in their power to do the impossible. We were married for nearly 7 years before we had the first one and we named him Matthew which means God’s Gift.
Today is the day I make up my menu for next week in order to do my grocery shopping for the week.
On next week’s menu is:
Monday - 20 minute Creamy Italian Chicken Skillet
Wednesday - Beef and Beans
Friday- Cheesy Zucchini Quiche
Weekend-Potluck Taco Casserole
On the menu today is
Chicken Pot Pie Stew
Makes 16 servings
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into cubes
10 red potatoes, quartered
1 8 oz. package baby carrots
1 cup chopped celery
2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup
5 cubes buulion
2 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp celery salt
1 tbsp ground black pepper
1 16 oz.package frozen mixed vegetables
Combine chicken, potatoes, celery, chicken soup, chicken bouillon , garlic, salt, celery sat and black pepper in a slow cooker on high for 5 hours. Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables into the slow cook and cook for 1 more hour.
This is good served over rice or noodles on top of biscuits. I prefer the biscuits myself. I’ve even had it over toast. This is a large recipe so I will be cutting the ingredients in half and still have leftovers to enjoy.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Having children is the greatest achievement. It was my savior. It was my focus from the outside to the inside. My children are gifts, they remind me of what’s important.

may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.

Family is the most important thing in my life.
What wonderful family pictures!
Such a beautiful family you created, Ma! Matthew has long been one of my favorite boy names.
My grand-girls are busy living their owns lives, so it's just me and my son (and Tom, of course). We may not be large in number, but enjoy one another's company all the same. Wouldn't want to do life without him. 😃
I love your testimony of motherhood and I feel the same way! My youngest son is 33 today and he will be coming over after work so we can take him out to dinner. Summer is going to join us so I’ll have my first born and last born with me today! My son, Jesse, is still recovering g from his motorcycle accident - it will be a long journey for him. While Amber with her four children stays so busy! They are still having repairs done on their house due to a water leak during the WINTER!!! And now one of their water heaters went out so there’s no hot water in the kitchen!
I’m so grateful for my children and I loved every pic and every word of your beautiful post this morning!
