ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY, AUGUST 8TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is National Zucchini Day which celebrates the versatile green vegetable and all the delicious dishes we can make with it.
The common zucchini is a close relative of the cucumber and the melon. it is a type of squash that comes from Italy. In fact the name zucchini comes from from the world zucchino which means small squash in Italian.
The largest zucchini on record was 69.6 inches long and weighed 65 pounds. It probably would have tasted very good though. For the best flavor always choose a small or medium size zucchini.
Celebrate today and plan a dinner menu full of this healthy vegetable. Grill it, bake it, into bread or add it to a salad. Bon appetit!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The trouble is, you cannot grow just one zucchini. Minutes after you plant a single seed, hundreds of zucchini will barge out of the ground and sprawl around the garden, menacing the other vegetables . At night you will be able to hear the ground quake as more and more zucchinis erupt.

I love zucchini and have it often in things I make. I do use the smaller ones that are said to be more flavorful. I’ve also heard today called Sneak Some Zucchini on your Neighbor’s Parch Day. It seems every one has more than they need and want to get rid of it.
I’ll never forget the neighbors we had once that used to do just that. I’d look out on the porch and find some vegetables in a basket and never even knew when they left them. We were new in the neighborhood and I thought it a very thoughtful thing for one of my neighbors to do. I appreciated the gift of vegetables, including the zucchini.
Over the years I finally found out who was doing it and they continued to leave them on the porch throughout the years too! They were very kind and generous neighbors.
Today I’m off to the birthday party for our little Precious One. It’s to be a very hot day so hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy their new pool that they just got this summer.
It’ll be good to cool off for awhile.Today’s pictures are from last year when we went to the party. DD and her hubby are giving me a ride today as it’s further away than I feel comfortable driving on my own. i used to do it all the time but cannot do that drive on my own anymore.
It’s better to be safe than sorry and I tend to fall asleep at the wheel when I drive for more than an hour especially on the interstates that are so monotonous.
I can hardly wait to see everyone! Although it will not be all our family, it will be some and I love getting together with family! There truly is nothing better.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
One's own flowers and some of one’s own vegetables make acceptable free. self congratulatory gifts, when visiting friends, though giving zucchini,- or leaving it on the doorstep, ringing the bell and running - is a social faux pas.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread and pumpkin pie.

I hope you all have a super Saturday !
ROFLMAO at that Dave Barry quote! I'd love to see some on my front porch.
Until I discovered how amazing fresh veggies are 3 years ago, I wouldn't touch zucchini. See, one of my coworkers used to make a low-cal, vegetarian lasagna with zucchini ... truly ghastly. These days I always keep zucchini and squash in the crisper to snack on with pimento cheese or in salads.
Safe travels, and I hope you have a super time at Precious One's party!
