ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
THURSDAY, AUGUST 5TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is American astronaut Neil Armstrong’s birthday which is a day to honor this famous astronaut’s big day. we celebrate his astounding accomplishments . He was the first man to walk on the moon and there’s no better way to celebrate than by studying up on this historic journey into outer space. It was July of 1969 when he took one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind. His moon walk lasted two and a half hours and was documented by eleven pictures, most of which were taken Armstron himself. Amstrong was accompanied by fellow Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who helped to plant an American Flag on the moons surface. Shortly after planting the flag, the astronauts received a call from Presient Richard Nixon who gave the entire crew the Presidential Medal of Freedom upon their return to Earth. Neil Armstong also received the Congressional Space Medal of Honor from President Jimmy Carter in 1978, Not bad for a kid from small town Ohio.
To celebrate today, you can watch a documentary about the Apollo 11 mission from the comfort of your home, or read a book about Neil Armstrongs accomplishments. They sky's the limit !
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
This is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
Neil Armstrong
I was a teenager when the Moon Walk was televised for all to see. We all held our breath as we watched them land on the moon. Up to this point adventures in space were all only a dream. I think I still have newspapers tucked away somewhere that told about the event. It was definitely a sight to behold and won’t be forgotten any time soon.
There are now a few very rich people that are tmaking their own flights to outer space happen, but not going to the moon. They spend lots of money for only a few minutes in space, making their dreams come true. Personal space travel is something new but it it takes more money than I’ll ever have. I don’t know that that is how I’d want to spend my money if I had it. I can think of better uses for it.
The pictures for today were taken by DS#5 when they visited Washington DC. I never thought to take pictures of the TV shots at the time. These days, with cell phone cameras it’s so easy to record history, but it wasn’t then.
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Happy Thursday!

The Sky is the limit today !
I'll never forget the excitement and awe, watching Armstrong and Aldrin plant our flag on the moon. My mind positively bloggles, realizing how many things I've been privileged to witness in 71 short years. 😊
