Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.
Always think on the bright side--no matter what life brings to your day. You'll gain a treasure within your soul that no worry or hardship can ever take away. Isaac Purcell
RECIPES AND CRAFTS
The labels shown below will take you to posts with recipes and a few craft ideas that I've included in my daily entries.
I'm looking out the window and the day is drab and dreary, And I'm trying to console myself by thinking something cheery I know it's simply horrible to get in such a slump And I also know it's up to me to get across the hump And I realize I'm selfish to mention this to you For, gee, you might be feeling a little 'low-down' too but often when I feel like this I tell myself it's true That I am not the only one who feels 'low-down and blue' And just knowing there are others who feel the way I do Renews my sinking spirit and keeps me smiling through and know that it's natural to take a 'spirit-dive' Provides the spunk and courage to hang on and survive And while there are a lot of moods that we can drive away by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE in all we do and say, There also is a loneliness that God meant us to feel But, gee, it sure is mighty hard to know which one is real And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack' who never saw the sun And just complained that every day was such a dreary one. But I know that all the dark days are just part of God's plan We should accept them graciously and do the best we can... So I'll just keep on trying for I know it's 'Gospel true' there never was a cloud so dark the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter
I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal. The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life. You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share. In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about 'the bright side'. 'On Ya'-ma

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bright side of life; gathering its roses and sunshine and makingthe most that happens seem the best.
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is National Waffle Day which was the date in 1869 an American inventor named Cornelius Swartwout received the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron. Waffles are a delightful breakfast food and can be paired with almost any toppings. Butter and maple syrup, fruit and whipped cream , a big scoop of ice cream or even a helping of fried chicken, the choice is yours.
The first waffles originated in Ancient Greece. The Greeks would cook cakes called obellos between metal pans held over over a fire. Today all you need is a waffle iron and a yummy recipe for waffle batter.
To celebrate today, cook some homemade waffles and have breakfast for dinner tonight! Enjoy!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A waffle is like a pancake with a syrup trap.
Mitch Hedberg
I’ve always got frozen waffles on hand so I suppose I’ll be celebrating today. I’ll have mine with some fruit and whipped cream. I’ve some strawberries on hand I want to use up. I’ll have mine for lunch as I have leftover tacos to have for dinner tonight.
I no longer have a waffle iron as I gave mine away, so I keep frozen ones on hand that you can heat up in the toaster. They are good and easy to fix. No fuss, no mess.
Today I’m off early to keep my appointment for a sonogram on my kidneys and another blood test.
I had to drink lots of water so believe me when I say I can’t wait until this is over. The appointment was set for 10:30 a.m., but they said to come 1/2 hour early, So it’s going to be an early start to the day for me.
After this appointment I will be meeting with my kidney specialist to see what’s going on with my kidneys and hopefully find a way to stay healthy. He needs to see the results of the tests first so it won’t be today, but I’ll let you know when I do see him.
The weather remains hot for this week and hopefully I can take advantage of our coumminty pool to cool off. I hate staying inside to keep cool all the time. I need some fresh air and sunshine too!
No waffle pictures today but more of back to school for the grands from 2020.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

ADVICEFOR TODAY
We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work, it doesn’t matter, But work is third.
Thinking of you this moring and lifting prayers for good results. Years ago I had to do the same thing before a sonogram and worried for days about not being able to 'hold' all that water! Now I'm remembering my mother's old waffle iron with the funny cloth-covered cord. In those days no-one had heard of Teflon; what a chore to clean up! Have you seen those 'Dash' mini waffle makers for one? I got one for my BF's birthday at Target (only $9.99) -- and now Tom thinks he might like one.

Have a terrific Tuesday !
I have never made homemade waffles but do enjoy the frozen ones. Cute back to school pictures.
