ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Ancestor Appreciation Day which gives people a reminder to learn more about those who came before us.
Many of us are completely unaware of our ancestors and the lives they lived, yet they almost certainly went a long way towards shaping our habits, traditions and values today.
Building a more complete picture of your relatives and their history can help to promote a greater appreciation for life and form a better understanding of the individual journey your family has been on.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Our ancestors dwell in the attics of our brains as they do in the spiraling chains of knowledge hidden in every cell of our bodies.
Shirley Abbott
I have a wide and varied heritage. For the most part my ancestors came from England, Germany, Ireland, France, Hungary and America too as I have an American Indian in the family tree. They all played an important part of who I am and what I do. Most came to the United States to make a better life for themselves. As far as I can tell they were all hard working and industrious people.
What little I know about them was passed on to me by my parents who loved to sit at the table and tell stories about their past. I think it is important to tell stories and pass on what we know to our children.
They say that today is going to be the last day of our heat wave, but it’s to be cooler as we’ll only reach 80 degrees instead of 90. Tomorrow we’’re to be in the 60’s for a high. Whew! Those record setting 90 degree days in September were just too hot for me.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Corned Beef Hash Day
Hash is a culinary term for a mixture of foods that have been finely chopped or diced. One popular variety is that traditional American comfort food, corned beef hash. This is a popular American
breakfast dish and it’s very easy to make.
To make your own corned beef hash, start off by cooking two large potatoes and cut them into cubes. Then, in a large skillet, heat 2 tbs butter and 2 tbs olive oil. Add potatoes and cook until golden all over. Then, chop 1 large onion and mince 2 garlic cloves, add to the skillet and saute for 5 minutes. Add 1 red and 1 green cubed pepper and cook 2 more minutes. Finally, add 12 ounces cubed corned beef and cook for 10 minutes, flipping hash over every 2 minutes to ensure it is crusty all over. Yum!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Our rural ancestors, with little blest,
Patient of labour when the end was rest,
Indulged the day that housed their annual grain,
With feasts, and off'rings, and a thankful strain.
Alexander Pope
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5293. for my ancestors, where would I be without them
5294. for comfort foods, hash is good
5295. for another new day, another chance to get it right
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
There are only two lasting bequests we can give our children - one is roots, and the other, wings.
Hodding S. Carter
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Our ancestors certainly paved the path that we are now walking. Have to be grateful for them indeed.

My late father - and DH - both love(d) corned beef hash. Doesn't sound all that hard, does it?
I'm really blessed that both mother (Norwegian) and dad (German) were careful custodians of their ancestors' histories. Those documents I have aren't as 'fleshed out' as I might prefer... but as I grow older they're precious.
