ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is also Constitution Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the official signing of the US constitution in 1797. This document stood as the result of tireless work and compromise between the delegates of the Constitutional Convention.
To this day the Constitution of 1787 has formed the basis for the development and running of the USA, priding itself on its roots in democracy, rights and social contract.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Dost thou love life? Then waste not time; for time is the stuff that life is made of.
Benjamin Franklin
This grandson, fondly called our Ray of Sunshine, is the brother of our Sunshine Boy and his Mom’s birthday was yesterday. All of them have wonderful smiles that always brighten my day. He is growing into a fine young man and can hardly be qualified as little any longer. A card was sent off in the mail with my love and best wishes for a very happy Birthday! Hoping the day brings nothing but happiness his way !
It’s a warm and beautiful morning here in Ohio. Not too hot and not too cold…just right. It’s to be a busy day here with church this morning, then the Apple Festival and then a birthday party for my Aunt J.
They say we’re to be right around 80 degrees for the next week and half here. Summer is going out with some really nice days. I for one am going to miss her for sure. Already we’ve lost a couple of hours of daylight and the days will just keep getting shorter and shorter here until the 1st day of Winter when slowly but surely they will get longer again.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Apple Dumpling Day!
With their origins as a humble peasant dish from the colder European climates of England, Bavaria and Austria, apple dumplings have crossed the Atlantic and spread their sweet smell to the New World. Over the centuries, they have become an internationally loved treat found in many grandmothers’ cookbooks and certainly worth of their own day of celebration.
Easy Apple Dumplings - Not your Grandma’s recipe
2 cans refrigerated Crescent Rolls
2 apples
1 1/2 cups butter, melted
1 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup lemon lime carbonated beverage
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 13 by 9 inch pan with cooking spray
Separate the Crescent roll at perforations to make 15 triangles. Peal and core apples and cut each apple in to 8 slices.
Place 1 apple slice on shortest side of each dough triangle. Starting with the shortest side of triangle, roll to opposite ping enclosing the apple slice. Arrange in pan.
In a mediumple bowl stir together melted butter, brown sugared and cinnamon and pour evenly over dumplings.
Pour the lemon lime beverage in center and along edges of the pan. Do not pour on top of dumplings.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown and thoroughly baked. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Nothing should be prized more highly than the value of each day.
Johann von Goethe

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

I have made that apple dumpling recipe many times and it is indeed a good one. Here's wishing you a marvelous week. Your weather sounds much like ours here in Kansas
What good looking young men!
Tom loves him some apple pie, but this dumpling recipe sounds simpler ... and delish!
