ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is the Autumn equinox which signals the beginning of Fall. It is the point where there is exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness at the equator. If you live anywhere else, however, you will see a little bit more or a little bit less than 12 hours of daylight. The daylight hours are dwindling and will continue to do so until we reach the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year and the start of winter.
It is also a time to celebrate with a variety of Fall and Harvest Festivals. People enjoy fall festivals as they sense the closure of a great summer season and the coming of a long winter. The fall festivals are the last of the outdoor events until spring. Just getting there is half the fun as you drive through hills and forests ablaze in fall color. So, get out and enjoy them.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.
Jim Bishop
Here at my house, I’m all ready for Autumn. As you can see by today’s pictures I went shopping and found all kinds of Fall treats. I’ve decorated the house and my closets and drawers are full of warmer clothing for cooler days. The thing is that we’re still having very summer like weather. It feels like summer here, but it’s beginning to look like fall outside. The mid 80 degree weather we’re having is supposed to continue for about another week they say, but then it will cool back into the 60’s.
Slowly but surely it’s going to get cold and I’m thankful for these lingering warm days. I’ve not had to mow the grass half as much lately. It’s hardly growing at all, but I’ll be mowing just to mulch the falling leaves as much as possible.
I’ve loved having the trees all around my home here for the shade they’ve given me all summer and they’ll continue to delight me as they change color and give me a beautiful view, but there will be a price to be paid in raking leaves for quite awhile. They do provide leaf pick here, but you have to get them to the curb first.
Last weekend we celebrated the first of the festivals offered in our part of the world with the Apple Festival, and there will be more to come. The community I live in is having a PUMPKIN Fest in October. But I’ll be looking for others to attend in between now and then. It is going to be a season to to celebrate!
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday! Happy Fall!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National White Chocolate Day! White chocolate was invented by the NestlĂ© company in Switzerland. The first white chocolate bar debuted in 1930.
Despite its long history, for many years the confection we know as “white chocolate” was not officially chocolate at all. White chocolate does not contain cocoa solids—one of the main ingredients in traditional chocolate. In 2004, ten years after chocolate manufacturers filed the first petition, the FDA finally relaxed its definition of chocolate and accepted white chocolate into the family. According to the regulations, true white chocolate must contain at least 20% cocoa butter, 14% total milk solids, 3.5% milk fat, and less than 63% sugar. This White Chocolate Boo Bark is is filled with creamy white chocolate, Oreo cookies, and chewy candy corn. It’s so easy to make and is the perfect snack to munch on during during these fall days, especially for Halloween.
White Chocolate Boo Bark
16 ounces white chocolate
25 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped
1 1/4 cup candy corn
2 tablespoons Halloween sprinkles
Line a 13 by 9 baking pan with parchment paper, making sure that extra paper hangs over the sides for easy lifting once chocolate is hardened.
Place about 3/4 of the chopped oreos and candy corn onto the prepared pan. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, microwave white chocolate until fully melted and smooth, stirring every 30 seconds so that chocolate doesn't burn. Once chocolate is melted, pour over toppings in pan. Gently press in the remainder of cookies, candy corn, and sprinkles.
Place pan into the freezer to harden for 30 minutes or into the refrigerator for one hour. Once ready, lift parchment paper by overhang and set on counter. Chocolate will lift right out of paper, Break into large pieces by hand or using a knife.
Enjoy!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I loved autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I'm not a huge fan of chocolate per se, but I LOVE white chocolate. So interesting, how it came to be so main-stream!
