ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Labor Day which honors the worker, it is also appropriately called the workingman's holiday. The holiday is dedicated to you in respect and appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home. As long as you work somewhere at something, this holiday is for you!
The first Labor Day was held celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882 and was started by the Central Labor Union in New York City. In 1884, it was moved to the first Monday in September where it is celebrated today. Labor Day quickly became popular and one state after another voted it as a holiday. On June 28, 1894, the U.S. congress voted it a national holiday.
Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. Many people celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the date that many people close up the pool, and put away the boats.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Prayer for Labor Day
Lord on this Labor Day,
we thank You for the blessing of work.
We ask for strength to complete each day.
We ask for rest when we are weary.
We ask Your guidance
for everyone seeking employment,
and we ask that
You be with those whose faces
we might never see
but who work tirelessly each day
for the good of us all.
Amen.
This holiday weekend isn’t turning out to be much fun here at my house. Yesterday morning I woke up to find that I’d forgotten to put the pulled pork that I’d made, away in the fridge. I had put it in on the kitchen counter to cool a bit before I put it away in the fridge and then forgot all about it. They say when in doubt throw it out, so that is what I had to do.
Then this morning I woke up to make my good cup of morning coffee and instead of coffee I got a message that said I needed to perform some sort of needle operation as it was clogged. I’m not sure at all what that means and will need to read the instruction manual. Meanwhile, I’m having a cup of tea instead. I do like tea and had some on hand, but usually I start the morning off with my coffee…I’m just saying.
In the realm of things, these were minor setbacks. Nothing I can’t deal with, but not the way I like to wake up in the mornings. I’ve had worse and I’ve had better, but one way or the other I’m going to try and make the best of what the day has to offer.
Were to have plenty of sun and warm temps for Labor day. But tonight storms could move in.
Happy Labor Day!
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
my pulled pork was delicious
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Macadamia Nut Day which is one of the most highly sought after nuts,
most famous for being the crowning feature of the White chocolate macadamia nut cookie, arguably one of the best cookies to come into existence since the chocolate chip cookie.
Here is a recipe in case you’d like to try your hand at making some.
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies
1/2 c butter
3/4 c sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
8 oz. white chocolate chips
6.5 oz jar of macadamia nuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Stir in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour baking soda and salt , stir into the creamed mixture. Finally stir in the white chocolate and nuts. Drop cookies by heaping teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned. Cool and store in an airtight container.
Makes 2 dozen.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Heaven is blessed with perfect rest but the blessing of earth is toil.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Good bye Summer!

I agree about when in doubt to throw the food away. We have done the same forgetting to put food away. Don't like throwing away the food, but don't like the thought of food poisoning. Hope you get the coffee machine working agsin soon.

Oh darn on the pulled pork! We've done the same thing, but it's best to be safe.
If yours is a Keurig, yes - every now and then a needle biopsy is required. The little orange do-dads are relatively inexpensive. I buy them on-line once a month w/ my coffee from the manufacturer: No sales tax and free shipping over $45. Yeay!
I've not tasted a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie -- but they have those kinds of cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory (if you have one in your town). Closest thing to heaven I've ever tasted! :)
