ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today Oktoberfest begins. It is a two week festival, held in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. While it is a giant world festival in Germany, Oktoberfest celebrations are held around the world during this time. So, if you can't get to the fair in Germany, you can participate in a local event.
It's time to eat, drink, and be merry! Each year, the Oktoberfest is opened, as the mayor of Munich taps a keg a of beer. There is even a special brew made, aptly called Oktoberfest beer.
Oktoberfest is not just a celebration of beer. It is a huge festival with lots of food, music, dancing, rides, and carnival booths. Each year millions of people from all over the world come to the fair. Oktoberfest celebrations and festivals are held around the world during this time. These festivals also celebrate the rich heritage of the German people.
Oktoberfest is a celebration of life and happiness, and that just couldn’t happen without great eats and libations.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Just after the death of the flowers,
And before they are buried in snow,
There comes a festival season,
When nature is all aglow—
Aglow with a mystical spendour
That rivals the brightness of spring,
Aglow with a beauty more tender
Than aught which fair summer could bring....

As I have some German heritage, this is one holiday I’ll be celebrating. A few of my ancestors from the maternal side of the family came from Germany. The paternal side of the family was Hungarian. I have to say that both love sauerkraut. I’ve also got a mix of English, French, Irish and even a touch of American Indian in my blood so there is no end to the holidays I celebrate.
Octoberfest to me means some good brats and sauerkraut and hot german potato salad. Today I will be making some good food here at my house and maybe even put some polka music on! My choice of beverage will be some cold, refreshing apple cider.
German cooking contains a mix of the sweet and sour and isn’t that just like life. A mixture of the sweet and sour things in life like a sour attitude and sour expressions that a little drop of sweetness can turn around.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Great American Pot Pie Day which celebrates an American creation that has been around for decades to warm us from the inside out, the Pot Pie. Pot pies are the American answer to British meat pies.
This holiday was created in 2002 by Marie Callender's, a licensed brand of ConAgra Foods. That year, they made a donation for each of their pot pies that were sold during the holiday's date. Originally, it was intended that this holiday be celebrated on the first day of Fall, which in 2002 fell on September 23rd. Though, it appears the September 23rd date for this holiday has stuck as references going back as early as 2007 quote this holiday's date as September 23rd.
So today on the 2nd day of Fall I’m sharing a recipe for making pot pies. This pot pie couldn't be easier. It’s loaded with chicken and vegetables in a creamy sauce and baked under an impossibly easy crust.
Impossibly Easy Chicken Pot Pies
1 2/3 cups frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup cut up cooked chicken
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix vegetables, chicken and soup in ungreased 9 inch glass pie plate.
Stir together remaining ingredients with fork until blended. Pour into pie plate.
Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Giving thanks, and often, frees the spirit and makes the heart secure.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5281. for the food that we have everyday.
5282. for my ancestors, I have a wide and varied heritage
5283. for festivals, always a celebration
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Haven't had sauerkraut in a bit, but always liked it on hot dogs. Enjoy your Octoberfest celebrations!

It's not 9AM over here and already, I'm craving sauerkraut! Now, I never cared much for hot potato salad, but it was definitely a part of my childhood supper table.
Being it's still too warm to turn on our oven, I may see what Google suggests for the crockpot. Have a fun day!
Love your thoughts on the sweets and sours of life Pam! Oh, I do love sauerkraut myself. My grandfather used to make his own and my sister makes her own as well. Its so good. I love German food. I Lived in Germany for a time as a child and Todd and I have been three times there on holidays. We love it there! I adore German Potato Salad! Hope your week is coming along nicely! Love and hugs! xoxo
