ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Beard Day which celebrates the beard and all it has been, become, and will be in days to come. The beard has been the symbol of manliness since time out of mind, close trimmed, full and properly manicured, even wild and bushy and out of control, the beard stands supreme.
It has stood for many masculine virtues, including wisdom, strength, and high social status. While there have been places that it hasn’t necessarily been in style, or even possible to grow for some, overall there has been a great deal of admiration and respect for someone sporting a fine beard.
World Beard Day honors your face, and that of everyone around you!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I moustache you a question, but I'll shave it for later.

Many of my sons have worn beards off and on. I have pictures of all of them with one so that is what I’m sharing today…their beards. They really look a whole lot different with the beards than without them.
I’ve always preferred the clean shaven look, but it’s not my face and there is not much I can say or do about them. I really think they just get tired of shaving and need a break from it.
It’s Labor Day weekend so for some this is the perfect opportunity to let the beard grow. Many have a nice long 3 day weekend to enjoy.
We have a chance of rain here today and will be in the mid 60’s but we are to warm back up to mid 70’s and low 80’s for the next couple of days. So hopefully everyone will have a chance to enjoy the last few days of summer.
Labor Day means the unofficial start of fall for me and I’m going to spend a little time putting up some fall decorations. That is if I can find them. I know they are tucked away in the storage tubs somewhere. The nice thing about fall decorations is that they will be good now through November.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s International Bacon Day which celebrates crispy strips of salted pork...Bacon! This is a day to thoroughly enjoy bacon at every meal. Snack time, too.
Today's Motto: Everything tastes better with bacon!
In honor of the day I have a delicious bacon recipe to share with you all. Bow tie pasta and bacon crumbles mixed with chicken, tomatoes and cheese make for one delicious dish.
Creamy Chicken, Bacon and Tomato Pasta
3 cups bow tie pasta, uncooked
1 lb. skinless chicken breasts, but into bite size pieces
1 can diced tomatoes, undrained
4 oz Neufchatel Cheese, cubed
3 slices bacon, crumbled
1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp pepper
3 Tbsp. grated Parmesan Cheese
Cook pasta as directed on package. Then cook chicken in a large skillet until done. Stirring occasionally. Add all remaining ingredients except Parmesan. Mix well. Cook until Neufchatel cheese is melted and chicken mixture heated through. Stir frequently.
Drain pasta and place in large bowl. Add chicken mixture. Mix lightly and Sprinkle with Parmesan and more bacon crumbles if desired.

I think you are right about why some men grow beards. They just need a break from shaving them. Lots of people traveling here for the 3 day weekend. Saw the report on the news last night the roads to where we used to live in Prescott were busy with people heading north to cooler temps.
betty
My father always wore a moustache but I, too, prefer the clean-shaven look. All the same, you've some mighty good-looking fellows in your family.
