ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, MARCH 27TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is a Happy Anniversary to DS#4 and his wife.
May you live as long as you wish and love as long as you live.

May the dear Lord bless you both today and always!
Happy Anniversary!
Today is also Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day which honors music that always puts a smile on our face. Perhaps It’s Johnny Cash’s Every time I itch, I wind up scratching you, Kenny Chesney’s She Thinks my tractor is sexy, or Homer and Jethro’s She made toothpicks out of the timber of my heart.. Todays the day to pay tribute to these unique songs.
Country music evolved from Application Folk music in the 1920’s and became a nationwide sensation in the 1940’s. The Grand Ole Opry radio station in Nashville, Tennessee began broadcasting weekly concerts that showcased all the different genres of country music — hillbilly, honky tonk, bluegrass, western, rockabilly, gospel and more.
In honor of today, put on your cowboy hat, get out your banjo, and belt out your favorite quirky country music song.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love, partnership, tolerance and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.
Paul Sweeney
I love country music and often start the day listening to it on the radio. I think country music tells about real life and that makes it appealing to me. Not all the songs are funny or quirky but there are a lot of them. I also love folk songs from long ago, that often tell about the history of our country.
The music is something that is soothing and calming to me. But there are also some songs that pep me up and are good to work by.
The son and DIL’s anniversary is another of my long distance celebrations. I don’t get to see them often but we do make up for it when we can get together. I’ll be sending out a card to them filled with love and wishes for a Happy Anniversary.
I definitely think anniversaries should be celebrated. Having a loving and lasting marriage is something we all wish we could have, but it takes some work and lots of love.
Today is my aay to cook for the weekend. I do have some leftovers from yesterday. There was plenty of good food to share and some to even bring home with me. DS#5 and his family were wonderful hosts and it was so good to see everyone!
On the menu for today is:
Slow Cooked Lemon Chicken
Makes 6 servings
6 skinless chicken breast halves
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp. lemon juice
2 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp chicken bouillon granules
2 tsp. minced fresh parsley
Hot cooked brown rice
Pat chicken dry with paper towels. Combine oregano , seasoned salt and pepper, rub over chicken. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the chicken in butter.
Transfer to a slow cooker. Add water, lemon juice, garlic and the bouillon to the skillet, bring to a boil, stirring to loosen any browned bits. Pour over chicken.
Cover and cook on low 6 hours. Baste chicken with cooking juices. Add parsley . Cover and cook 30 minutes longer until meat juices run clear. Serve with brown rice. If desired juices may be thickened before serving.
You can also substitute the seasonings and add a package of Italian salad dressing if you want.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
We are not the same persons this year as lost year, nor are those we love. It’s a happy chance if we, changing continue to love a changed person.
W. Sommerset Maugham
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Happy Anniversary to DS#4 and his wife! I hope you will be able to get together again soon - maybe even at the beach again! Glad you enjoyed your family gathering yesterday. I can imagine how nice it must have been to have some of your family together again for the day. Have a great weekend Ma!
Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. DS#4! So glad you had a great time with your family yesterday. (I must not have read correctly and believed it was today.)
Oh, I love country music! Mostly the old 'classic' stuff, but some of today's artists are good. You've mentioned a couple songs I'm unfamiliar with. The one that always cracks me up is "Drop Kick Me Jesus through the Goal-Posts of Life." Then there's a couple that you don't hear much anymore, but always make me weep: "What's Your Momma's Name, Child?" and "Hello, Country Bumpkin."
