ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 12TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Plant a Flower Day which celebrates that Spring is fast approaching and is it’s a great way to get ready. We all love spring for it’s sunshine, greenery and new blossoms. Depending on where you live, planting flowers is a perfect way to welcome warmer weather and sunshine or to simply decorate your yard or house with some beautiful flowers.
Gardening has become a popular hobby amongst people of all ages. If you can get outside and plant some flowers today, if not you can still plant your flowers inside in a pot. Flower gardening is a sure way to brighten your day and bring you some happiness.
Two very popular flowers for the month of March are daffodils and marigolds. Plant one of the flowers or another favorite to celebrate. This can be a fun activity to do with the whole family.
If you can’’t see the bright side, polhish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The earth laughs in flowers.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I do love flowers and plant them, but it’s too early for that here. We cannot not safely plant anything until Memorial Day when the chance of frost is finally over.
I did get a new plant at the grocery store this week. It’s a pot of shamrocks and they are blooming tiny litte white flowers.I didn’t have to plant it, it came in its own pot already started.
In the pictures today are the flowers I plant in my flower boxes when it gets warmer. I so enjoy the color they provide all summer long. They are also where I show off my flags. I didn’t have a flag holder so the flower boxes serve the purpose.
Today is also my day to cook something new and on the menu is:
Citrus Scallops
makes 4 servings
1 green or sweet red pepper, julienned
4 green onions, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 lb. sea scallops
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
2 tbsp. lime juice
1/2 tsp grated lime zest
4 navel oranges, peeled and sectioned
2 tsp minced fresh cilantro
Hot rice or pasta
In large skillet, sauce the pepper, onions and garlic in oil for one minute. Add scallops, salt and pepper flakes. Cook for 4 minutes. Add lime juice and zest; cook for one minute. Reduce heat. Add orange sections and cilantro; cook 2 minutes longer or until scallops are opaque. Serve with rice or pasta.
I’ll serve this with whole wheat spaghetti. I like to have seafood at least once a week and since it’s Lent, I have it on Fridays right now. The oranges and the lime juice give scallops a refreshing burst of flavor.
Don’t forget that this weekend id the weekend we Spring Forward. So set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed on Saturday. Spring Forward !
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!!

Flowers are like sunshine and add brightness to our days!
Your citrus scallops sound delicious, and I love your planter boxes and flags!
I love the way you discovered how to fly the U.S. Flag, Ma!
No new flowers here; in fact, our weatherman was saying, While Easter is the traditional time for planting, he thinks it's still too early. Mother Nature has a mind of her own, that's for sure!
We bought a LOT of seeds and plants today and have them all in the ground tonight! It was a day long project! I love your countdown to spring! Love your posts and sorry I have missed visiting as regular as I would like....
