ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR MONDAY, MARCH 15TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Happy Belated Birthday to you♥
Today is also Ides of March which is the name of the 15th of March in the Roman calendar. In modern times the term ides of March is best known as the date on which Julius Caesar was assisnated in 44 BC. Ceasar was stabbed 23 times to death by a group in the Roman Senate by a group of conspirators led by Marcus Junius Brutus. and Gaus Cassius Longhus. His death makes a turning point in Roman history . Some Romans celebrate the ides of March as a new year celebration. In Canada the day is celebrated with drinking Bloody Ceasars.
Beware the Ides of March

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The ides of March are come. Soothsayer: Ay, Ceasar, but not gone.
William Shakespeare
The only thing in this DDIL’s birthday to beware of is me. I once again proved that I’m only human and do make mistakes. I forgot to do her birthday post which was actually on Sunday, the 14th. She is a wonderful DDIL and a joy to be around and I would never want her to feel I forgot her. So today a card will be sent out filled with Happy Birthday wishes and love for a very Happy Belated Birthday! I did get to see her not long ago when we celebrated my birthday!
It’s hard to believe it’s the middle of March already. The time just keeps speeding by. I should be almost done with my Spring Art project by now, but sadly it’s just barely started. I’ve been to good at procrastinating lately, thinking I have plenty of time. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a lot done this week so it will be done by Easter.
Seems as though I’ve been a day late and a dollar short theses days. Time for me to shake things up. We’ll see how much I can get done when I put my mind to it.
It’s also my day to cook and on the menu is:
Irish Colcannon Soup
Makes 6 to 8 servings
6 tbsp. buter
2 cups sliced leakes
2 cups sliced and chopped green cabbage
2 cups sliced and chopped kale
4 cups pealed and diced potatoes
6 cups chicken broth
2 bay leaves
1/3 cup heavy cream
4 green onions, thinly sliced
Melt butter in large pot on medium heat. Add sliced leeks, cabbage, and kale toss to coat with butter . Lower heat to low and cover and cook until greens are wilted, about 15 minutes.
Add diced potatoes to pot, along with the chicken broth, bay leaves and salt. Increase heat to bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and maintain simmer and cook until potatoes are softened and falling apart. 20 more minutes.
Remove from heat. Swirl in white pepper, heavy cream and sliced green onions.Taste and add more salt and pepper if desired.
When cooking, make sure to stir often to prevent sticking or burning. Everything on the menu this week is Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!!

Oh a new to me recipe. Thank you.
Good to be invested in getting things done, but don't try to do too much, too soon. And run out of steam. -smile-
