ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13TH, 2022
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Scrabble Day which is celebrated on the birthday of it’s inventor, Alfred Mosher Butts. This American architect created the game, which he originally named Lexicao. It’s name was then changed to Criss Cross Worlds and later came to be known as Scrabble.
It’s a family friendly board game sold in over 120 countries , in 29 different languages. It is so popular it’s found in approximately one third of all American homes and was inducted into the National Toy Hall of fame in 2004.
To celebrate today invite family and friends to participate in an exciting Scrabble tournament.
Today is also Holy Wednesday and Peach Cobbler Day
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To develop a long term relationship with a board game is to tease out all the intricacies of all the different ways it can nudge you and shape you the way you approach a variety of situations and possible interactions with people.
Eric Thurm
We used to have and play a lot of board games when the kids were home and Scrabble was always a favorite. Although anymore I don’t play much as there is no one here to play with. It’s always fun to see who will winn.
Making words with the letter tiles you got was always a challenge.
It’s mid week and another reason for me to cook up something new and on the menu today is:
French Onion Dip Pasta with Arugula
Makes 4 servings
8 oz. whole wheat fusilli pasta
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 cups chopped onions
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
2 cups vegetable broth
1/2 sour cream
2 cups baby arugula, packed
Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil, add fusilli and cook according to package directions; Drain.
Meanwhile heat a large skillet over medium heat, add onions. Cook stirring, for 3 minutes. Reduce heat to medium low and cook stirring util golden.
Add garlic, thyme, salt and pepper, cook, stirring 1 minute longer. Increase heat to medium high and add broth; cook stirring until liquid is reduced by half.
Reduce heat to medium and add sour cream, stirring until completely incorporated. Remove from heat and stir in pasta and arugula.
I couldn’t find any plain arugula at the store so have a mix of it and baby spinach to use in mine. It should be a delicious meatless meal for today and healthy too.
We will have warm but rainy, sometimes stormy weather today so I’m not going out to get groceries, but have made up a new menu for next week and on that menu is:
Monday- Use It Up Vegetable Soup
Wednesday-Creamy Chicken, Mushroom and Ricotta Pasta
Friday - Sheet Pan Shrimp Fajitas
Weekend- Slow Cooker Spicy Red Pepper Chicken
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALLL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Bear in mind three essential qualities in all games of intellect: Never show selfishness or sound feelings of your adversary. To be modest with a good game. To lose without ill temper, and to win without bragging.
W. Patterson
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Have fun today and play some Scrabble !
Hope you are well up that way. We do enjoy board games. I like Scrabble but I am limited to 3-4 letter words on the board for some reason. Sherry is good at it. Thanks for continuing the prayer for our troops, they need it.

Scrabble is an enduring favorite, isn't it? Unfortunately, Tom's not 'into' board games; I could play on my phone, but it's not as much fun.
I've heard those old letter tiles are really popular with crafters. Maybe that's something we need to hang onto?
