Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.
Always think on the bright side--no matter what life brings to your day. You'll gain a treasure within your soul that no worry or hardship can ever take away. Isaac Purcell
RECIPES AND CRAFTS
The labels shown below will take you to posts with recipes and a few craft ideas that I've included in my daily entries.
I'm looking out the window and the day is drab and dreary, And I'm trying to console myself by thinking something cheery I know it's simply horrible to get in such a slump And I also know it's up to me to get across the hump And I realize I'm selfish to mention this to you For, gee, you might be feeling a little 'low-down' too but often when I feel like this I tell myself it's true That I am not the only one who feels 'low-down and blue' And just knowing there are others who feel the way I do Renews my sinking spirit and keeps me smiling through and know that it's natural to take a 'spirit-dive' Provides the spunk and courage to hang on and survive And while there are a lot of moods that we can drive away by looking on the BRIGHT SIDE in all we do and say, There also is a loneliness that God meant us to feel But, gee, it sure is mighty hard to know which one is real And I'd hate to be a 'sad sack' who never saw the sun And just complained that every day was such a dreary one. But I know that all the dark days are just part of God's plan We should accept them graciously and do the best we can... So I'll just keep on trying for I know it's 'Gospel true' there never was a cloud so dark the sun could not shine through!

On the Bright Side Newsletter
I send this little letter out each morning to all my family and friends and even to a few people that I've never met. Many of them send it on to others too. So in order to make it available to more people I post the 'brighter side' of the news here each day in this journal. The letter began as an effort to keep in touch with my family as they are spread out in all directions. My family, friends and God are the most important things in my life. You'll find quotes, poems and stories and even a few recipes included in this newsletter. I try to find something new each day to share. In a world that very often publishes only the dark side of things I felt that others would be encouraged to hear about 'the bright side'. 'On Ya'-ma

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bright side of life; gathering its roses and sunshine and makingthe most that happens seem the best.
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is World Book Day which was created by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO to celebrate books, authors, publishers, and illustrators. After all, reading is a huge part of our lives. Today promotes reading to children and people in under privileged areas.
It was first celebrated in 1995 and is celebrated world wide. This day is celebrated on the 23rd of April because on that day in 1616, a few major authors died, including Shakespeare and a few others were born. World Book Day honors and supports every author, publisher and book out there. This day shows the significance of books both for learning and pleasure. Imagine our world without books and it stands up to illiteracy and shows the knowledge and power that comes from books.
To celebrate today, read a book or two with your kids, and tell them of the importance of reading and how enjoyable it can be.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dullside
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
So many books, so little time.
Frank Zappa
I love to read and will be reading a book today but not to someone, I’ll be reading for myself. There is no one here right now to read to. But over the years I’ve read plenty of them to my own family and to the grandchildren too.
It’s a day I’ll be celebrating for sure. I read my books on my Kindle now and have the library app so that all the books I read are free.
I stopped buying books when I moved but still have a lot of them on hand. What book shelves I have are full right now and there is no more room for others.
Today is also my day to cook for the weekend so that I don’t have to do any cooking on Sunday. But today I’m going away so there won’t be time to cook. But on the menu for today I would be cooking:
Slow Cooker Spicy Red Pepper Chicken
Makes 6 servings
2 yellow onions, divided
2 lemons, divided
1/2 cup chicken broth, divided
1 red bell pepper chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp. ginger
1Tbsp. paprika
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp salt, divided
3 Tbsp. olive oil
1, 4 lb chicken, giblets removed
Slice 1 onion and 1 lemon into thick rounds, spread in an even layer in a slow cook. Chop the remaining onion and juice the remaining lemon. Transfer to a blender: Add 1/4 cup broth, bell pepper, garlic, ginger, paprika, cayenne and salt . Puree until smooth. Transfer 1/4 cup of the sauce to small bowl and whisk in oil. Refrigerate until needed.
Add chicken to the slow cooker. Pour the remaining sauce over it. Swirl the remaining 1/4 cup broth in the blender to get all the remain sauce; pour over the chicken. Cover and cook until a thermometer registers 165 degrees when inserted in the thickest part of the meat, about 3 hours on high or 6 hours on low. No peaking.
Position a rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler on high. Carefully transfer chicken to broiler. Discard remaining cooking liquid. Brush with reserved sauce. Broil until starting to lightly brown.
I’ll be having this with some oven roasted potatoes and a side salad.
As I previously mententkoned I’m going away today. It’s our family Easter combined with two graduations celebration! We are having a taste of summer here in Ohio today and it couldn’t be a more beautiful if it tried.
Our Prince Charming is graduating from high school and our Princess is graduating from college. It’s going to be a great day !
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICEFOR TODAY
Good friends, good books, and a sleep conscience : this is the ideal life.
I used to dream about owning a home with a dedicated library: floor-to-ceiling mahogany bookcases. Ha! I don't have so many anymore, and my bookcase is a recycled-something my husband rescued after our neighbor put it out on the curb. Even so, it's Home Sweet Home. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter celebration!
I have turned into a book nut. I still prefer the actual paper/ink, but I am reading more e-books. There are times they don't even count as books. LOL Good one.. ;-)

I love books and I love to read.
I have the library app too but download a book and then listen to it instead of reading while I crochet.
