ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SATURDAY, APRIL 9TH, 2022
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Cherish an Antique Day which celebrates all the antiques we own. It’s a day to polish them up and put on display. Humans have been collecting antiques since the beginning of our history. We have always been facinateded by the stories behind these curiosities and the rare glimpses they give us into our predecessors.
In 1979, the first episode of Antiques Roadshow aired in the United Kingdom. Local residents presented their family heirlooms and collectibles for appraisal, and learned their true value. The show was an instant success and is still produced today. On the American version of the show, the most valuable find to day was a set of carved rhinoceros cup horns, which were appraised at 1 to 1.5 million dollars.
To celebrate today, learn the story about your favorite antique and share the tales with family and friends.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
An antique is anything old with class.
John Barlett
The oldest antique I have here at my house is the mantle clock that sits here on an antique sideboard in my living room. I don’t have a mantle so use this surface to sit it on. The clock was an anniversary gift to us some time ago from my mom and dad. They bought it at an auction sale and I fell in love with it.The pictures today show it along with my seasonal decorations.
The clock doesn’t have a high value, because it was made at a time when many others of it’s style were quite common. The sideboard came from the basement of someone a buddy of my husband had. They saw it and thought of us as our dining room at the time needed something more. I had him bring it over to us. It was free and I doubt it has much value either. It’s not in good shape and needs refinishing. None of my collectibles are valuable but all are cherished by me.
It’s my day to cook for the weekend so that I can relax tomorrow. On the menu today is:
Chicken Provolone
Makes 4 servings
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1/4 tsp pepper
Butter flavored cooking spray
8 fresh basil leaves
4 thin slices prosciutto or deli ham
4 slices provolone cheese
Sprinkle chicken with pepper. In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook chicken over medium heat about 4 to 5 minute on each side.
Transfer to an ungreased baking sheet. Top with basil, prosciutto and cheese. Broil 6 inches from heat until cheese is melted.
I don’t have fresh basil so will sprinkle some dried basil on my chicken. I’ll be having this with a side of potato salad and green beans.
I got to go to a play at our high school last evening. They performed the Wizard of Oz. One of DS#5’s daughters and their dog were in the show.
It’s to be a cloudy day here with temps in the 40’s but I saw in the long range forecast next week we’ll be mostly in the 60’s and I’m excited about that. It’s sure to make the buds pop out here.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought

Cherish your antiques today. Polish them up and display them.
Love your antique clock and display.
I doubt my antiques hold any monetary value -- but they're rich in meaning and memories. The last few years I've been making an effort to start using them.
Sherry should have polished me today, I am her antique!
be safe... ;-)
