ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FRIDAY, JUNE 25TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Take Your Dog to Work Day which is an opportunity to take your dog to work with you
An organization called Pet Sitters International declared the first Take Your Dog to Work Day in 1999. The purpose of this holiday is to celebrate our canine companions and encourage dog adoption from humane societies, bread rescue clubs, and animal shelters. Each year on the Friday after Father’s Day, thousands of offices participate in this nationwide event.
To celebrate today, take your pooch to the office or donate to an animal shelter.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Roger Caras
As I no longer work nor do I have any dogs, I won’t be celebrating today. I have had many pets in the past, but never considered taking one of them to work. It would have been impossible to get anything done with them around.
Pets are wonderful companions and have a lot of benefits, but these days I enjoy my granddogs and don’t have any of my own. They are what is in the pictures today. I wonder if any of them will go to work with their owners today.
It’s Friday and my day to cook something involving seafood and on the menu is
Lobster and Corn Chowder
The original recipe called for freshly cooked lobster but I’ll be using
One 8oz packaged imitation lobster chunks
Makes 6 servings
4 cups fish stock, or fish broth
4 cups water
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
2 large leeks, white and pale green parts, only, halved lengthwise, rinsed and thinly sliced
2 potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
3 cups frozen corn kernels
1 cup heavy cream or half and half
1/2 cup minced fresh chives, divided
1/2 tsp salt
Bring stock or broth and water to boil in large stock pot
Cut the lobster meat into 1 inch pieces. Meanwhile heat butter in large pot over medium low heat. Add leaks and cook until soft but not browned. Add potatoes and cook 5 minutes. Increase heat to high and add stock or broth. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to maintain a gentle simmer and cook until potatoes are tender.
Sir in the corn and lobster meat, cream or half and half, 1/4 cup chives, pepper and salt into the pot. Cook over medium low heat until steaming hot and gently simmering. Serve topped with remaining chives.
You can also use vegetable broth instead of fish broth. I’ll be having a Ceasar Salad along with my bowl of chowder.
I hope you have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s difficult to understand why people don’t realize that pets are gifts to mankind.
Linda Blair
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9300. for dogs, the perfect companions
9301. for being retired, I no longer have to work
9302. for seafood, good and good for us too.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Happy Friday everyone !
Your granddogs are adorable. I can't imagine many people are actually able to take their dogs to work today. Your chowder sure sounds delicious - enjoy it and enjoy the weekend! :)
Is that Murphy?! Soooo cute! I love this holiday but never worked anywhere it was actually observed.
I didn't realize there was something called imitation lobster, but will be looking for it. Bet I can get around my shellfish allergy that way!
Had to copy and save the recipe as it sounds great!
