ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, MAY 25TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is also International Missing Children’s Day which is celebrated on the same day as the United States Missing Children’s Day designated by Ronald Reagan in 1983.
A missing child is a child who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and fate is not known. A person may be missing due to their own decision, accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found, such as the sea, or many other reasons.
Most children who go missing do come home. Whether they’ve wondered off or there was a misunderstanding, many find their way back to their family. Of those who are abducted, 9 percent are kidnapped by family. Only a small fraction are stranger abductions. But the fact remains, if it happens to any child, it happens to too many.
This day honors those who’ve gone above and beyond to protect children There are many ways to keep children safe every day. Keep recent photos of children handy and keep medical and dental records up to date. Complete background checks on caregivers and check references. Never leave children unattended in strollers and car seats. Don’t dress children in clothing with their names on it. Teach them their address and phone number as young as possible.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
One missing child is one too many.
John Walsh
It would be any parents nightmare to have their child go missing, yet too many do. We need to protect and keep our children safe. They should know that strangers can be dangerous and how to run away to protect themselves.
This grandson’s birthday is one I’m happy to say I’ll be celebrating in person. It won’t be today but a party is planned for Saturday. They hope to have a pool party but our weather is looking quite cool for the weekend so I don’t think I’ll be going swimming. They may have the water heated but it would be too cold after you got out. After rain this week we once again turn colder, but still mild in the mid 60’s. Swimming weather to me should be in the 80’s. But we’re not to worry, that kind of weather will be coming back soon.
Our Xfactor is now playing baseball and that is what the pictures are of today, a baseball game I got to attend previously. He is fast growing up and so are his baseball skills.
I forgot to share my recipe for the beginning of the week yesterday so I thought I’d do it today. On the menu is:
Slow Cooker Vegetable Minestrone Soup
Makes 8 servings
4 carrots, peeled and chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 red onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups green beans cut into 2 inch pieces
2 15 oz cans red kidney beans, rinsed
2 15 oz cans diced tomatoes, undrained
6 cups vegetable broth
2 tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp crushed red pepper
1/4 tso salt, divided
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1 zucchini, chopped
4 oz, whole wheat pasta. ebows or other small pasta
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Combine carrots, celery, onions, garlic, green beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, broth, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, 1/4 tsp. salt and pepper in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours. Stir in zucchini, pasta and remaining salt. Cover and cook until pasta is tender. Serve immediately, topping each serving with about 1 1/2 tablespoons Parmesan
As I mentioned it’s not too hot for soup here yet, so i’m going to enjoy it while I can.
I hope you have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
