ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, MAY 29TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers which is a day to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping operations for their high level of professionalism, dedication and courage and to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace.
The day is marked at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City with the presentation of the Dag Hammerskyold Medel. statements by the President of the General Assembly and the Secretary General a press release regarding the state of the UN Peacekeeping missions and the continue necessity of their work. There are also observances around the world, often countries will honor their own peacekeepers. but the UN also organizes festivals, descussion forms and memorials in cooperation with local and National groups.
Peacekeeping by the United Nations is a role held by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations as an unique and dynamic instrument developed by the Organization as a way to help countries torn by conflict create the conditions for lasting peace. It is distinguished from both peachbuildxing and peace making.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.
Jim Hendrix
I’m so thankful we live in the world where there are peace keepers. There is absolutely nothing good about wars.
Today is the day I usually cook for the weekend, but since I thought I had a party to attend, I didn’t plan on doing it. Instead I’ll get a pot pie out of sthe freezer to have. They had to cancel the party due to our bad weather. Winds and rain yesterday created quite a bit of havoc an we’re to get more rain today. Everything is ok here, I just have my usual puddles of water standing in the yard.
I made Macaroni salad to share so I have quite a bit of that on hand. Hopefully I can give some away. However, it is a good side dish and even a meal for me at times.
The pictures today are from the party held last year at this time. It was a much smaller group then than it would have been today. However, the weather didn’t keep them away. It’s to be raining rain most of the day. Last year it was the virus that kept folks at home and we were not alowed to have large group gatherings. Thank goodness things have changed.
I hope you have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Lord make me an instrument of thy peace. Where their hatred, let me sow peace.
Francis of Assisi
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9219.for peacekeepers everywhere.
9220.for a party to celebrate
9221. for a raincoat, umbrella and boots to keep dry.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
Mother Teresa

So sorry the party had to be canceled, but glad to see it's been rescheduled. I hope you have an enjoyable weekend anyway! :)
How disappointing for your grandson! Hopefully, he's already looking forward to 'next time'!
