ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR THURSDAY, MAY 13TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Apple Pie Day which celebrates the quintessential American dessert. However apple pie wasn’t invented by the U.S. Rather it was invented in Europe sometime during the 14th century. The first apple pie recipe was printed by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1381 in England. The ingredients in the recipe included apples, spices, raisins, figs, pears, and saffron which was all enveloped in a pastry crust.
Several Dutch apple pie recipes date bak to the late 15th century. There were similar to the English recipes, except that they added a scoop of ice cream placed on the top before being served. This tradition of apple pie a la mode eventually caught on in America. Today, many people continue enjoy their warm apple pie topped with ice cream.
To celebrate today bake a delicious apple pie or order one for curbside pick up from your local bakery. Just don’t forget the ice cream!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I’m as American as apple pie.
Paul Mooney
I do have all the ingredients to make an apple pie today so perhaps I’ll be doing that to have for dessert tonight. It’s supposed to be a dry and sunny day so Ice cream on top will be good too. We’re supposed to be close to 60 degrees today so I’m thinking I’ll go outside and mow the grass. I charged up the batteries in my mower yesterday, so I’m all set to get the job done. At least this time the grass won’t be as high as it was before. The last time I mowed it was very high and my batteries wore off before I was done. This time they should last the whole way through the job.
This mower is a mulching lawn mower and saves on having to bag up any cut grass. It’s also better for my lawn they say. When ever you are mulching leaves or returning lawn clipping back into the lawn, it saves time, money, labor and is a great way to add nutrients back into the soil.
We’ve been blessed with sunny and dry weather this week and all the puddles have just about all dried up!
I hope you have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
