ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, MAY 8TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Have a Coke Day which celebrates the largest nonalcoholic beverage company in the world and the classic Coke beverage we all know and love which is sold in more than 200 countries. In fact, more than 1.8 billion glasses of coke are served every day Coca Cola was named after the coca leaves the originally provided its flavor. The Coca Cola contained 9 mg of cocaine per glass. In 1903 Coca Cola began using a non narcotic coca leaf extract to provide that distinctive flavor.
John Pemberton invented Coca Cola in the late 1800’s and it was originally intended as a medicinal syrup to alleviate fatigue and headaches. The beverage was still largely unknown when he died in 1888. After buying the secret recipe for $2,300.00, Asa Candler founded the Coca Cola Company and turned it into a household name.
To celebrate today, enjoy a tall glass of your favorite variety of Coke today or plan a picnic and enjoy your favorite Coca Cola based drinks!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Coca-Cola is an American icon.
John Quelch
I don’t drink many soft drinks at all any more. More and more I stick to water but now and then a coke goes good. I like it with pizza more than anything. Pizza and water just isn’t the same.
It’s Saturday and my day to cook for the weekend and on my menu for today is:
Bruschetta Steak
makes 4 servings
3 tomatoes, chopped
3 tbsp. minced fresh basil
3 tbsp.chopped fresh parsley
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 aarlic clove, minced
3/4 tsp. salt, divided
1 beef top sirloin steak, 1 lb.cut into 4 portions
1/4 tsp. pepper
Grated Paremesan cheese, optional
Combine first 6 ingredients, stir in 1/4 tsp salt.
Sprinkle beef with pepper and remaining salt. Grill, covered over medium heat or broil 4 inches from heat until meat reaches desired doneess. For medium rare, a thermometer should read 135 degrees. 4 to 6 minutes per side. Top with tomato mixture, if desired, sprinkle with cheese.
I’ll be having this with a baked potato and a side salad.
Usually we think of bruschetta consisting of a grilled bread rubbed with olive oil and topped with tomatoes and cheese. But this variation is made with steak instead.
I got my first Mother’s Day surprise yesterday morning. Shortly after I woke up I got a call from DD#6’s grandmother. She said she and her son were on the way over to deliver a plant from DS#6 for Mother’s Day. It was surprise and it’s now hanging out on in the carport. The first flower of the seeson for me. Hopefully, I’ll soon have more coming.
. I’ll be sharing my Mother’s Day post tomorrow and will be honoring the mom’s in my family, my daughter and my daughter in laws. Meanwhile, I think I’ll sit back and enjoy a Coke or two!
I hope you have a SUPER Saturday!

Beautiful basket, Ma! I don't drink many carbonated beverages anymore, but Tom still enjoys his cola. 'Matter of fact, we just returned from lunch with my son where he had pizza and Coke!
