ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FRIDAY,FEBRUARY 4TH, 2022
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Wear Red Day which is celebrated on the first Friday of February. Many people wear red to show their support of the awareness of heart disease.
Designed to warn women of their number one health threat, ‘The Heart Truth’, campaigned created and introduced the Red Dress as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 to deliver an urgent wakeup call to American women.
Heart disease is a class of diseases that involves the heart, the blood vessels or both. The causes of heart disease are diverse but atherosclerosis or hypertension are the most common. Additionally, with aging comes of number of physiological and morphological changes that alter cardiovascular function and lead to supsequently increased risk of cardiovascular disease, even in healthy asymptomatic individuals.
Heart disease is the leading cause of deaths worldwide, though since the 1970’s, cardiovascular mortality rates have declined in many high income countries. At the same time, cardivascular deaths and disease have increased in low and middle income countries.
Although heart disease usually affects older adults, the antecedents of cardiovascular disease begin in early life. Therefore increased emphasis on preventing atherosclerosis by modifying risk factors, such as healthy eating, exercise and avoidance of smoking tobacco.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
Red dress is not a trend. It never was. It’s an expression. A lifestyle.

I’ll definitely be putting on my red today. Maybe not a dress as it’s too cold though. My DDH had a sudden heart attack at the age of 50 so I think it’s very important to pay attention to our heart health. He appeared very healthy, but that didn’t stop it from taking his life. It’s just not women who are affected, but since I’ve gotten older I’ve developed high blood pressure which can lead to strokes.
I’m paying more attention now to the foods I eat and am taking medication to lower the blood pressure too. Sadly I don’t get much exercise in the winter time, but I have taken to going to stores just to walk around inside.
Right now I can’t even get out and do that because of this winter storm that is upon us, but I’m trying to do some extra house work to make up for it. Just running the vacuum sweeper is good exercise if you do it long enough.
We can’t get along without our heart so it’s best to keep it healthy.
It’s my day to cook something new here and on the menu is:
Light and Lemony Scampi
Makes 4 servings
1 lb. uncooked shrimp
8 oz. uncooked multigrain angel hair pasta
1 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. olive oil
2 green onions, thinly sliced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup vegetabe broth
2 tsp. grated lemon zest
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional
Peel and devein shrimp, removing tails. Cut each shrimp lengthwise in half. Cook pasta according to package directions.
In a large nonstick skillet , heat butter and oil over medium high heat. Add shrimp, green onions and garlic. Cook and stir until shrimp turns pink. Remove from pan with a slotted spoon.
Add onion, lemon zest, lemon juice, pepper, salt and red pepper flakes to the same pan. Bring to a boil, cook until liquid is slightly reduce. Return shrimp to pan. Heat through. Remove from heat.
Drain pasta, divide among 4 bowls. Top with shrimp mixture, sprinkle with parsley and if desired serve with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!!

as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Wear Red today, to make others aware of good Heart Health !
I'm wearing red today too. I'm glad you are taking good care of yourself Ma. Your Scampi sounds delicious, and if I lived closer I just might invite myself over for dinner! ;)
Wearing red here!
I lost my father prematurely from a sudden heart attack. One thinks it will never happen to them, you know? I'm thankful for the continuing publicity re. heart health -- and medical professionals, too.
