ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!

Today is National Suspenders Day which celebrates the accessory that has been helping to hold up our pants in style for more than a century. They were invented back in the 1820’s by Albert Thurson.
As a fashion trend, they have made a comeback over the years as pop culture and fashion icons gave this vintage accessory some new life.
You can celebrate by digging deep in your closet and donning your favorite pair of suspenders for the day.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The straps that suspend a man’s trousers from his shoulders - known in the U.S. as suspenders and in Britain as braces - are always correct with a summer suit made of seersucker, linen or silk.
Roger Stone
The only person I really ever knew that wore suspenders was my grandfather. He really used them to hold his pants up and didn’t wear a belt.
There was a time that they were also popular in kids clothing and some of my own and some of my grandchildren have also been known to wear them. Fashions do come and go for sure.
Today is my day to get out and do my grocery shopping and I have made up a menu for next week to do my shopping by.
Monday - Meatball Submarine Casserole
Wednesday -Slow Cooked Pizza Casserole
Friday - Easy Crab Cakes
Weekend - French Dip Sandwiches with Onions
On the menu today is:
Cheeseburger Soup
Makes 8 servings
1/2 lb lean ground beef
4 tbsp butter, divided
3/4 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup shredded carrots
3/4 cup diced celery
1 tsp dried basil
1 5so parsley flakes
4 cups cubed peeled potatoes
3 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup flour
2 to 4 cups shredded Velveeta cheese
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup sour cream
In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook and crumble beef until no longer pink. Drain and set aside. In same saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Saute onion, carrots, celery, basil and parsley until vegetables are tender. Add potatoes, ground beef and broth, bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer, covered until potatoes are tender.
Meanwhile in a small skillet, melt remaining butter. Add flour, cook and stir until bubbly. Add to soup a, bring to a boil and stir two minutes Reduce heat to low. Stir in cheese, milk, salt and pepper, Cook until cheese melts. Remove from heawtw, blend in sour cream.
It supposed to be a good day with temps in the 70’s so it’ll be a pleasure to get out and about. As I have no suspender pictures to show today, I thought I’d show some of my scarecrows.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

It's Wednesday, the middle of the week and here we go sliding right into the weekend!
My husband wears suspenders every day ... more out of necessity than fashion. Our temps are starting to rise again, so I'm putting thoughts of soup on hold for a few more weeks. Enjoy your bowl-full!
