ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Seafood Bisque Day with celebrates a delightfully rich and creamy soup made with lobster, crab, shrimp, or crayfish. It is often seasoned with wine or cognac and a savory bouquet of spices. In a traditional bisque recipe, the soup is thickened with a fine puree of crustacean shells.
Some culinary historians believe that the word bisque comes from the French world Bis cuites, meaning twice cooked. Bisque is heated twice. First with the stock and again with the cream. Others believe the word is related to the Bay of Biscay. Dishes from Biscay have spices ver similar to those in bisque.
To celebrate today try making your own and serve it with a fresh baked Baguette for a decadent treat.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To feel safe and warm on a cold wet night, all you really need is soup.
Laurie Colwin
I am a little late posting this today. I thought I had done this post and then discover it was gone and had to do it all over again. And that takes awhile for me to do.
Things like that happen, but are certainly not welcome for sure. On the bright side, I’m sitting here in a warm house today. The maintenance men got my furnace working again. They said it needed a new heat sensor.
Seafood won’t be on my menu today, as I have leftovers from yesterday to use up. Waste not, want not, they say.
It’s a sunny day and warmer than yesterday with temps in the 70’s for a couple of days and then we’re to get even colder. I seriously have to think about moving my plants inside the sunroom before we’re hit with a frost and it kills them. I don’t know if anything will winter over or not. But they are all blooming now and I hate to just throw them out. We’ll see….
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9633 for warm soup on a cold day
9634. for a warm and cozy home
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Soup is a lot like a family. Each ingredient enhances the others; each batch hows its own characteristics and it needs time to simmer to reach full flavor.

Nothing will warm you up better than a hot bowl of soup.
Your temps sound much like what we're experiencing!
One of the best soups I've ever tasted was a sample being given away at an open-air arts-and-crafts show -- acorn squash bisque with cognac. I suppose I could Google a recipe, but it sounds rather labor intensive -- and not particularly given to left-overs. If I ever see it on a menu, tho, I'm making it my main course. LOL.
I love your ending quote! And I do love a good bowl of soup!!
