ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Fire Prevention Day which is a commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire. The Great Chicago Fire was a conflagration that burned from October 8 to early October 10, 1871, killing hundreds and destroying 3.3 square miles in Chicago, Illinois.
The traditional account of the origin of the fire is that it was started by a cow kicking over a lantern in the barn owned by Patrick and Catherine O’Leary . In 1893, Michael Ahern, the Chicago Republican reporter who wrote the O’Leary account, admitted he had made up its colorful copy. The barn was the first building to be consumed by the fire, but the official report can’t determine the exact cause.
On the 40th anniversary of the fire, the Fire Marshalls Association of North American, the oldest membership section of National Fire Protection Association, sponsored the first National Fire Prevention Day, deciding to observe the anniversary as a way to keep the public informed about the importance of fire prevention.
In May 1929, when they held the meeting in Otawa at the invitation of the Dominion Fire Prevention Association, they passed resolutions urging governments in the United States and Canada to support the campaign for a common Fire Prevention Day.
To celebrate today, learn all you can about fire prevention. Remember where there is smoke, there is fire
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
If you play with fire you’re going get burned.
Old Saying
It’s very important to know the rules of Fire Prevention. First and foremost we should all have smoke detectors in our homes. Many will take this day to replace their batteries for the year.
I recently had a heat check done here at my house. They check to make sure the furnace is working correctly and replace the filter for me. They also changed the batteries on my smoke detectors and carbon monoxide decterctor.
They do all of this free, it’s included in the rent I pay I’m thankful for having a good Landlord.
On Saturday’s I always fix something to eat for the weekend and on the menu is:
One Pot Chicken Stuffing Casserole
Serves 6
2 tbsp butter
1 onion, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
1 cup chicken broth
3 cups dry seasoned stuffing mix
1 3/4 lbs boneless skinless chicken brasts
1 can condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/3 cup milk
3/4 tsp. Paprika
Heat oven to 400 degrees. While oven is heating, heat the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Ad onion and celery and cook until crisp tender. Add the broth and heat to a boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the stuffing mix and mix lightly.
Spoon the stuffing into a baking dish. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Place the ckicken on the stuffing
Stir the soup and milk in a small bowl. Pour over the chichen. Sprinkle with Paprika . Bake for 30 minutes or until chicken is done. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired before serving.
The big news here this week was that DS#5’s family had 2 cases pf the covoid. DDIL#5 and our sweet sugar AB tested positive for the virus. DDIL# 5 had the vaccine so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, and our little AB only had a low grade fever so her symptoms weren’t bad either. Still DDIL #5 remains very congested and cannot smell anything. Please join me in praying that no one else in the family catches it and they will all soon be well.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Keep safe and check the batteries in your smoke alarms!
Oh my word! Lifting my prayers now for your DDIL #5 and Sugar AB ... and their whole family. If you don't mind me asking, how is DS#6? (I may have missed an update, but still praying.)
