ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31ST, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Halloween or All Hallows Eve which can be traced back to an ancient Celtic pagan festival called Samhain, which was celebrated over 2,000 years ago. The Celtic calendar began on November 1, and the Celts believed that as the old year faded and the new year emerged, the boundaries between the living and the dead became unstable. On the night of October 31st, the spirits of the deceased could walk the earth and damage crops or provoke sickness. To combat these evil spirits and ward off ghosts, the Celts built huge bonfires, left bowls of food outside there homes and wore costumes and masks.
Although there are still plenty of ghosts and ghouls, Halloween has evolved into a secular, family friendly event. One quarter of all the candy sold in the United States is purchased for Halloween, and typically over 40 million children trick or treat in their neighborhood each year.
Make sure to have a Happy and Safe Halloween and celebrate today !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The farther we’ve gotten from the magic and mastery of our past, the more we’ve come to need Halloween.
Paula Curan
Our town had trick or treat night last night and although it was raining it was a fun family time. We had a delicious dinner of ham and bean soup that DS#5 had made for us and the kids all enjoyed being together. They got lats of candy and treats for sure!
As I’m a little tired out today, so I’ll be staying home and viewing church services on line. I’m so thankful we have that option. I wouldn’t want to be nodding off in the church pew for sure.
It’ll be a lazy and relaxing day for me as usual for a Sunday. It’s my day to rest and relax and get ready for a new week ahead. Hard to believe that it will be November already and I’ve done nothing yet to prepared for Christmas. It sounds like a busy month ahead for me.
Before we have Christmas though, there will be some family birthdays coming up and of course Thanksgiving Day to celebrate. I love celebrating all the special days because it will also include seeing some of my family.
A few more showers may be coming our way today, but next week it may be a little clearer and much more colder too. They say we could have a frost.
The pictures today are from DS#6 and show the delicious scary treats they had for their Halloween festivities. Looks like loads of fun!
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
