Today is Frankenstein Friday which is celebrated every year on the last Friday of October. Frankenstein Friday pays homage to one of the greatest gothic stories of all time. In 1818 Mary Shelley wrote a novel about a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein who discovered how to give life to inanimate bodies. He creates a monster that pursues him to the ends of the earth and eventually destroys all he holds dear.
People mistakenly use the name Frankenstein to refer to the hideous monster, who was played by Boris Karloff in the 1931 film, but Victor Frankenstein never gives his creation a name.
To celebrate today, read a chapter from the book, or create a mad scientist Halloween costume .

I’ve never read the book, but I have watched the Movie more than once. The first picture is one of my grandsons who happens to be the cutest little Frankenstein I’ve ever seen. So I show the same picture year after year on this day. The other pictures are of other grandchildren and their scary costumes.
Halloween is such Fun!
I’ve no costume to show you today but I do have a new recipe to share.
Easy Crab Cakes
Makes 4 servings
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs, divided
2 green onions chopped
1/4 cup finely chopped
1/4 cup finely chopped sweet red pepper
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup mayonaise
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tso cayenne pepper
2 6 oz. cans crabmeat, drained, flaked and cartilage removed
1 Tbsp butter
In a large bowl, combine 1/3 cup bread crumbs, green onions, red pepper, mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic powder and cayenne. Fold in crab
Place remaining bread crumbs in a shallow dish. Divide mixture into eight portions, shape into balls . Gently coat in bread crumbs and shape into patties.
In a large nonstick skillet; heat butter over medium high heat . Add crab cakes and cook until golden brown on both sides.
I’ll be having sweet potato fries and coleslaw as sides with these for dinner.
Truthfully my dinner will be even easier than this, as I have some frozen crab cakes on hand and all I have to do is stick them in the oven. Ha!
