ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
THURSDAY DECEMBER 23RD, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Festivus, which is a holiday created by Dan O’Keefe as a way to celebrate the holiday season without buying into its commercialism. Festivus was immortalized when O’Keefe’s son wrote an episode about it for the popular TV show Seinfeld. The episode called the Strike aired on December 18, 1997.
A traditional Festivus celebration includes a plain aluminum pole in lueu of a Christmas tree, the Airing of Grievances, the Festivus dinner and Feats of Strength. The traditional Festivus greeting is Happy Festivus and the slogan of the holiday is, for the rest of us!

If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Be as mindful of another’s worth as you are of your own. Do your best to live as everybody’s friend. It’s not that hard to say Merry Christmas to someone else or Festivus if that ,makes someone happy. It doesn’t hurt to be nice.

I’ve never celebrated Festivius but do try to keep the commercialism of the season at bay. I try to remember the real reason for the season and not go overboard on the gifts.
After reading the Christmas story in the Bible, for many years, the only gift that really matters is the one God gave to us, His only son.
Too many forget there is another reason for celebrating this time of year and make it all about the material things, not what comes from the heart.
Having friends and family together and sharing our love means more than anything. My family is God’s gift to me and I’m very thankful for all of them.
It’s going to be a green Christmas here, we’re warming up again and will have rain not snow. The good thing is that now they are saying the price of gas to heat our homes won’t be increasing as we’ve had such a mild December, our gas supplies have increased.
That’s a good thing for me as I was wondering how to make my budget stretch further. Now it seems to be staying the same, and I have what it takes to make do right now.
Meanwhile, colds, the flu, and viruses of all kinds seem to making a lot of us sick. Trying to keep safe, I continue to wear my mask whenever I go out. I’m beginning to think this will be our new normal. Wearing masks and keeping a safe distance. Hopefully everyone will be healthy for Christmas. That would be the best present of all.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9826. for a day to remember what truly matters
9827. for the simple life I lead now
9828 for the gift of Florida oranges I recieved this week. I’ll be getting plenty of that good vitamin C.
.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
All I’m saying is, if you celebrate Festivus, you may live a little longer. You are getting back to the essentials , To the days of gods on mountaintops and howling wolves. Because you are saying the holidays are in the heart, a celebration of being alive with our fellow humans. For that purpose, an aluminum pole will do just as well as anything else — as long as it’s not stuck in the wrong place.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Remember Jesus is the real reason for the season !
I never heard of Festivus ... but then I wasn't a fan of Seinfeld. All the same, it sounds hilarious. I'm all about less commercialism, too. Enjoy those oranges!
My son has celebrated Festivus with his friend's family for years!
Except this year and last year, that is, due to the pandemic.
I notice that the little boy with Santa Claus...is he your grandson? I notice he is wearing Buffalo Plaid, I am about to write a post about it, if I am able to get to it tonight, that is!
Take care and have a Merry CHristmas!!
Blessing for a Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year from Georgia.
