ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY DECEMBER 12TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Poinsettia Day which celebrates the blooming plant with beautiful red and green foliage. This brilliant foliage makes it a very popular decoration during the holidays.
Although native to Mexico, 90 percent of all poinsettias are exported from the United States.
John Roberts Poinsett , the first U.S. ambassador to Mexico, introduced the flowers to the United States in the 1820’s. While visiting Taxco, Poinsett found the flowers growing on a hillside and sent some to his home in South Carolina. The flowers grew well in his greenhouse and Poinsett began distributing them. The name poinsettia soon became the accepted name for flower in English speaking countries.
To celebrate today, purchase a beautiful poinsettia plant for a gift or for yourself.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.
Mother Teresa
The only poinsettias I presently have here are the artificial kind. I always put them out along with my Christmas Decorations. They always brighten up things and are very Christmassy.
After a very windy and rainy day here yesterday today is to be mostly sunny and the temps have dropped again. Now we are in the 40's. which still isn’t too bad. Thankfully we didn’t get any of the terrible tornados that some have had.
I hoping to get outside today and decorate the front of my home with some Christmas decorations. I picked up a cute snowman and a wooden Santa to sit outside.
I’ll store away my Pumpkin welcome sign and scarecrow to be used again next year. I’ll also get rid of my pumpkin which managed to last quite well.
I’ll be getting out later on to shop for a gift card I need for a gift exchange but still I’ll stream church services on line. I’m not as steady on my feet as I’d like to be but when I have a shopping cart to hold onto, I do just fine.
The legend of the Poinsettia is a charming story of Pepita, a poor Mexican girl who had nothing to give, to praesent the Christ child at Christmas Eve services. As Pepit walked slow to the church with her cousin Pedro, her heart was filled with sadness rather than joy. I am sure Pepita, that even the most humble gift, if given in love will be accepted in His eyes., said Pedro consolingly.
Not knowing what else to da, Pepita knelt by the roadside and gathered common weeds, fashioning them into a small bouquet. Looking at the scraggly weeds, she felt more saddened and embarrassed than ever by the humbleness of her offering. As she approached the alter, she remembered Pedro’s kind words. She felt her spirit lift and the placed the bouquet at the foot of the Nativity scene.
Suddenly, the bouquet of weeds burst into blooms of brilliant red and all who saw them were certain that they had witnessed a Christmas miracle right before their eyes. From that day on the bright red flowers were known as Flores de Noche Buena or Flowers of the Holy Night, for they bloomed each year during the Christmas season. Today the common name is Poinsettia
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Christmas is more than a time of tinsel, trees and toys; it is a season of peace. Christmas is more than a time of festivities, family and friends; it is a season of gladness and gratitude.
