ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 8TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Christmas Tree Day which is the perfect time to trim your tree and deck the halls for the holiday season. Set up your tree if you haven’t already done so and have a tree trimming party.
Christmas trees first became a tradition in the 16th century Germany. To celebrate people decorated trees in the homes with candles or built Christmas pyramids out of plywood.
Queen Victoria, who married her German cousin in 1840, is credited with making the Christmas tree popular part of their culture. By the 1890’s Christmas trees became popular in the U.S..
Happy Christmas Tree Day !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree, in the eyes of children they are all 30 feet tall.
Larry Wilde
A Christmas tree has always been part of my Christmas decorating, but since I now live alone and my house is small, I now only have small table top artificial lighted trees. I have 3 so they are spaced out around the house. I love to sit and watch their twinkling lights.
There was a time, when we’d get a real tree, the smell of fresh pine cannot be beat. But they can be very messy and so they don’t last long before the needles start to dry up and fall on the carpet and can be very hard to clean up.
The pictures today are of some of my children’s Christmas trees from over the years. They have more room than me and their trees are always bigger than mine.
This has not been a good week healthwise for my family. Not only does DD have the Covoid, but so does Mr. Wonderful and DDIL#1 let me know on Tuesday morning that our Sweetheart is in the hospital with pneumonia I’m praying they are all well soon and can enjoy a Merry Christmas this year!
It’s Wednesday and my day to make up my shopping list for the week and that includes making up a menu for next week to do my shopping from. I don’t think I’ll go shopping today but hold off until tomorrow.
Mene for Next week is:
Monday-Pepper Steak with Squash
Wednesday-Slow Cooker Cheken with Rosemary and Mushrooms over Linguine
Friday-Make Ahead Broccoli Cheddar Quiche
Weekend - Baked Chicken with Bacon Tomato Relish
On the menu for today is:
West Coast Snappy Joes
Makes 6 servings
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 can, 8 oz. tomato sauce
1/3 cup of soft sun dried tomato halves, not packed in oil, chopped
1/3 cup chopped roast sweet pepper
2 Tbsp. chopped pickled jalapeño peppers, opptional.
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp.balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp Montreal steak seasoning
1/2 tsp. pepper
6 hamburger buns, split
Optional: Chopped avocado, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions.
In a large skillet cook beef, onion and garlic over medium high heat until beef is no longer pink , crumble beef; drain.
Stir in tomato sauce , sun dried tomatoes, peppers , jalopepenos, if using, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, steak seasoning and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered , until thickened, stirring occassionally. Serve on buns, with toppings as desired.
As usual I left out the jalapeño peppers, I like my food mild. So mine will not be quite as snappy.
We’re in the mid 30’s with only a slight chance of rain, so the weather really isn’t too bad.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The Christmas tree is a symbol of love, not money. There’s a kind of glory to them when they’re all lit up that exceeds anything all the money in the world could buy.
Andy Rooney
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.

A Christmas tree is a symbol of love.
Your tabletop trees sound delightful! When we're not away, I keep our tree lights on 24/7; it's light totally brings me joy. After our last 'real' tree's needles killed my Electrolux, we purchased an artificial variety -- no regrets.
Praying for your family members' health right now!
