ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY DECEMBER 5TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Repeal Day which is the anniversary of the day that the United States repealed the 18th Amendment, restoring the right to purchase and consume alcohol.
The 18th Amendment which was ratified on January 16, 1919, prohibiting the sale and transportation of liquor throughout the United States. Prohibition led to widespread disrespect for the law. New York City alone had about 30,000 speakeasies by 1927.
Eventually, many influential and respected citizens including John D. Rockefeller, Jr., came forward and organized a counter movement. The 21st Amendment was ratified on December 5th, 1933.
Repeal Day is a celebration of the balance of power in the United States and of the individual freedom that allows each citizen to choose whether or not to drink.alcohol.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
There are no good laws but such as repeal other laws.
Andrew Johnson
I think it is important that we all have individual rights on how we want to live. We get to choose for our selves and have the freedom to do so.
I don’t drink a lot of alcohol, but that is not to say that I don’t imbibe now and then. I’m mostly a social drinker when I get together with others. We need to remember though that we shouldn’t drink and drive. We should always have a designated driver to prevent accidents.
I do love a hot toddy on a cold day to warm me up and today might be a good day for that. We are turning colder again after a brief break in the temps. It’s to be windy with winds coming in out of the North.
I’m staying in and keeping warm today. Not going out even to church this morning. Thankfully, it’s on line for me to enjoy streaming from my phone.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Suday!
The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9768.for laws that provide individual rights to choose for yourself
9769 for the balance we have in our government
9770.for a cold day to stay inside and keep warm.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
I know no method to secure the repeal of bad or obnoxious laws so effective as the their stringent execution.
Ulysses S. Grant
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Some laws are made for a reason and others are unreasonable.
True, that! I'm loving those holiday cups -- and the 'ugly' sweater, too.
This post reminds me of the time my mother made a batch of Hot Buttered Rum batter. We sure enjoyed a cup every time the weather turned nasty.
{{1 cup butter, softened · 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar · 1/2 cup packed brown sugar · 2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened · 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon) - 1 t. ground nutmeg. Mix batter well and freeze.}} I'm giggling on account the recipe reads, good for up to 3 months; I think hers lasted 2-3 years!
