ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
THURSDAY DECEMBER 16TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Boston Tea Party Day which celebrates the anniversary of the cold winter night in 1773 , a group of Massachusetts colonists, known as the Sons of Liberty , disquised themselves as Mohawk Native Americans and dumped 342 crates of tea into Boston Harbor. They did this in protest of the Tea Act, which British Parliament had put into place to protect the struggling East India Tea Company. The result was a virtual monopoly on the American tea trade.
In response to this raid, Parliament passed the Coersive Acts, which were also known as the Intolerable Acts. This solidified the revolutionary movement and led the abolitionists to organize the Continental Congress. The rest , as they say is history.
Today celebrate with a Tea Party of
your own.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
While I am a coffee lover, I also enjoy tea and really like iced tea in the summer. Tea often helps to settle the stomach and is very refreshing when you are hot.
Tea and toast are two of my favorite things if I’m not feeling well. I love honey and lemon in my tea and also enjoy green tea, both hot and cold. It is said to be very good for us.
So I will celebrate today and enjoy a cup of hot tea!
I forgot to tell you what was on the menu for yesterday and what I’m enjoying leftover today. I only cook every other day.
On the menu is:
Slow Cooker Chicken with Rosemary and Mushrooms over Linguine
Makes 4 servings
1 cup chicken stock
2 1/2 Tbsp flour
4 shallots, sliced
8 oz. sliced fresh mushrooms
1/3 cup dry Marsala wine
2 tsp. chopped fresh rosemary
8 bonesless skinless chicken thighs
3/4 tsp salt
Whisk the stock and flour in a slow cooker until well blended. Place shallots, mushrooms, Marsala, and rosemary in the slow cooker.Sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper; arrange in the slow cooker, nestling it among the vegetables and liquid.
Cover and cook until chicken is tender and the sauce has thickened.About 4 hours.
Transfer the chicken from the slow cooker to a serving platter, reserving the liquid and vegetables in the slow cooker. Transfer the cooking liquid to a sauce pan bring it to a boil. Boil until sauce is reduced to 2 cups
Cook the linguine according to package instructions, omitting the salt; drain. Divide the linguine among 4 bowls, serve the chicken over the pasta. Top with the sauce. Sprinkle evenly with parsley.
I mixed it all together to heat up for today’s dinner and it is very tasty and a quick meal for today.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You can never get a cup of tea large enough ore a book long enough to suit me.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Rainy days should be spent at home with a cup of tea and a good book.

It's a great day for a good cup of hot tea!
I never developed a taste for tea. Maybe I've not come across just the right flavor; or forgot to add brandy (LOL)?
On the other hand, this recipe sounds like another winner. My Tom loves the thighs best, and is a big fan of gravy in any form!
